This Saturday morning (May 17, 2008) is the final broadcast of Kids WB. CW is replacing it with a combination of 4Kids and some of their current cartoons.

Well, anyway, it's the end of an era in the TV Animation/Children's Programming field. For the past 13 years Kids WB aired many classic cartoons. Especially in the mid to late `90s. Farewell.

Discuss.

so is 4kids creating some kind of monopoly on saturday morning cartoons? (...I miss the foxbox)

ok some news, Kids wb was bought by 4k!ds then. Thats why we see this happening.

It wasn't bought. CW decided to no longer produce 4 hours of kid program so leased the space to 4Kids.

Does that mean 4K!ds has cartoon blocks on The CW and FOX?

See, us 80's and 90's kids really did have it good. Kids these days are running out of saturday morning cartoon blocks. Since I was a 90's kids, I had Kids WB!, Fox Kids, One Saturday Morning (ABC), and CBS kids. Kids these days just lost out on Kids WB!, and now can only get 4K!ds, let alone the fact that cartoons keep dwindling in quality as every year passes by.

Saturday mornings were just getting good again too. With The Batman, Legion, Spider-man, and TF.

shame i always enjoyed kids wb when i was ever in the states

Well that's the last bastion of my childhood that's gone... Damn I'm getting old...

I remember the days of Kids WB, Fox Kids, ABC Kids Block and hell there was probably one mroe. I remember switching from Digimon to Recess to god knows what else... Damn cartoons suck today :( Now I'm just sad :(

The networks can make more money showing infomercials its sucks but thats life

the days of cartoons just arent what they used to be. I remember when I was kid getting out school and watching the aftertoon cartoons on WB, Fox and all those other networks, plus the better television.

Political pressure and rising childhood obesity....bought about a measure that required networks, if they were going to air childrens programming, 2 or 3 hours if it had to be educational..that and the afternoon talk shows were doing better ratings....and compounded with the fact that Disney and Nickelodeon so dominate the after school market now

Ahh, gotcha. Kids are out of options now. Either 4K!ds, or reruns of the shows they've already seen (with the exception of Power Rangers) on Disney Channel on ABC Kids.

this sucks i grew up watching that program :(

Yes and no...cable has Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Toon Disney, and the Disney Channel...those dominate the afternoon and saturday morning landscape now

I'm not upset, actually. I already stopped watching Kids WB! for the most part since 2003. Other than occasional episodes of The Batman, I didn't care to watch any of the other junk on it. I don't really remember the last time I actually got up and watched a good chunk of saturday morning cartoons.

Yep, that's true, but saturday morning blocks were always special. They showed those special toons that didn't repeat a thousand times a week just in case you missed it.

Spider-Man isn't going anywhere, is it?!

Even as an adult I enjoy the "old" cartoons... but apart from Spider-Man, there is nothing new (cartoon-wise) I bother to tune in for.

Right now, the Spectacular Spider-Man is my only draw to the CW... well, besides Smallville and Supernatural. (Funny... they all start with S'. Huh.)

Spectacular SM has a second season confirmed.....as to when it will air, not sure

80's kids had it the best. They can actually remember what was shown in better detail and how others reacted to what was shown.

Kids WB was there for me with some great shows when I was younger. As a kid, I had the Animaniacs, Bugs & Daffy, Freakazoid, Pinky & the Brain, & Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain.

Later on, I grew older, and moved on with Men In Black, Pokémon, Jackie Chan Adventures, Cardcaptors, Sailor Moon (yes, Sailor Moon, so BACK THE **** OFF!), Batman, Superman, and X-Men Evolution.

In my teens year, I had Yu-Gi-Oh!...that was it.

Now, I had the mediocre The Batman and have the amazing Spectacular Spider-Man. As long as 4kids stay the hell away from Spider-Man, I'll accept CW 4kids as KidsWB successor.
