CBS, WB give CW a vote of confidence

I just finally saw a promo for Suprnatural for the new season a few days ago and it wasn't even anything new. It was just a short brief 15 second clip of Dean in hell yelling for Sam and then it said Supernatural Returns September 18th.

Even though they were promoting gossip girl and 90210 well a month or more ahead of its release.

Dude you are NOT the same since you changed your name. :csad:
Anyway, here's hoping this network goes bottom up. WB, I can understand being this dumb to let this happen but I'm really surprised is letting this happen. EVERY single flippin show on this network looks alike! There's no diversity at all!

I know they're all the same and the ones that aren't get canned a season or so later.

I've heard rumors that Ostroff's head is riding on the success or failure of 90210 and Privileged. Hence the reason, they're pimping the hell ouf of them and virtually ignoring the shows with established audiences.

Privileged looks like a steaming pile of crap.

Ostroff's targetting of a mainly female audience would be just fine if The CW was a cable network, but this ia broadcast network, and it looks like the CW is going to be lacking any kind of diversity in its programming in the future.

Indeed once Smallville & Supernatural ends the CW will just become another lifetime channel as long as Dawn is the head of the CW. The one thing that made the WB awesome back in the day were the "superheroish" type shows with the likes of Buffy & Angel & more. Thats were Dawn should go to the lifetime channel

You've gotta wonder why they wouldn't want more superhero shows with the entire stable of DC characters available to them and the pop culture success and at least decent ratings of Smallville to look at.

Cause its not what females want according to them and thats who their trying to atract not thr male 18-34 crowd.

Stupid business mistakes. Either that or they're to cheap for the special effects for the shows.

But yet America's Next Top Model and One tree hill get tons of promotion.

It will be a great Christmas if by then Dawn gets the boot & anyone that was behind Dawn & bring in entirely new blood for that network to get down to business for next season. Because if both Smallville & Supernatural ends this season they will have NOTHING for next season & next season will more then likely be the last for that network

If all things go according to plan and keep supernatural after this season it should have one more season then its done.

Erik Kripe said he wants 5 seasons at max tops.

Probably a combination of both. The expense of a show like Smallville vs. the not-quite-blockbuster ratings return probably helped push them toward their current business mandate. Shows aimed at women tend to be much more cheap to produce. Look at 90210: they grabbed a bunch of pretty 20-somethings, capitalized on the name of an established hit, and threw in a few of the old show's stars to draw the old fans back in, and it's been getting a lot of buzz, which is almost as good as ratings itself.

But even 90210 will not be enough if shows like Smallville & Supernatural ends this season. There will definitely not be enough viewers to save that network next season

Yeah, but when you go for cheap stuff, its gonna break down in a short time.

And stuff like this is why their never be as big as NBC,ABC,CBS, or even FOX.

Look at ABC. That was another network that was fun back in the day but I have not watched ABC in a few years but now they actually seem to be going back to the superheroish / fantasy type shows looking at Samurai Girl & Seeker

Presumably they'll have other new shows like 90210 next season to cater to the audience they're trying to build. What gets you to watch a TV show? You see something about it on TV or hear about it from word of mouth, decide "this sounds cool," and watch it, right? Why would the process be any different for The CW and its new shows aimed at women? The only problem is figuring out what their fickle viewership wants and creating shows to match that, but that's the problem of literally every commercial producer of original content, so they're in the same boat as any other network. We may leave the channel with Supernatural or Smallville, but if The CW does its job right, others will start watching their new shows to replace (and hopefully exceed) those they lose with the directional shift.

I'm not sure, but I think The CW might not have as much money to put into their shows as those major networks do.

well. CW is a part of Warner Bros and they should have alot of money .Or are they only interested in putting that money into maybe failed movies?
