Rise of Marvels: 2099 Edition Character Application:
Character You Would Like to Play: Spider-Man 2099
Character Alignment: Hero
Character's Speech Style and Color: Comic Sans, Navy.
Faction They Belong To: Miguel is a successful scientist for Alchemax, but is pretty reluctant about it.
Appearance/Costume:
Powers and Abilities: The proportionate strength, agility, and reflexes of a spider. He can also cling to surfaces and cut things by using razor talons that extend from his feet and fingertips, and paralyzing venomous fangs. His body produces and shoots webbing from the backs of his hands as well. Enhanced vision enables him to see great distances and in the dark, but makes him very light sensitive. Miguel O'Hara himself is also a brilliant scientist, pioneering new frontiers of genetic engineering.
Brief Origin/History of Your Character and Their Personality: Dr. Miguel O'Hara will start off as quite the arrogant jerk, having helped develop the cure for the mutant X gene years ago, and having created Alchemax's new top enforcer: the Taskmaster. As events unfold around him, though, O'Hara will see the world for what it truly is and become a hero.
Already bitter from when he first learned that the cure for mutancy was being used as a weapon against mutants, rather than letting them volunteer to take it, Miguel was contemplating quitting the company. However, when one of O'Hara's colleagues is killed for trying to resign, all signs indicate that someone high up in Alchemax had sent the Taskmaster to kill him. Furious, Miguel confronts his boss, Tyler Stone. Not willing to let the best scientist in his employ leave, Stone drugs Miguel with the drug known as rapture, highly addictive and periodically crucial to the user's survival after even a single dose. As Alchemax is the only legal distributor of rapture, Tyler Stone knows that O'Hara will now forcibly stay in his employ. Miguel has other plans.
Using the genetic splicer that he had been in the early stages of testing, Miguel modifies the machine's programming to splice himself with his own DNA, taken from before he was exposed to rapture. A jealous colleague, however, tampers with the machine in an attempt to cripple O'Hara with bug-like deformities by replacing some of the programmed genetic code with that of a spider. The incident succeeds in curing him of his addiction to rapture, but also does anything but cripple him, granting Miguel the awesome powers of Spider-Man 2099.
Supporting Cast: Conchata and Gabriel, Miguel's mother and younger brother. There's also his holo-assistant Lyla. I'm leaving Dana out of the story, at least for now.

This thing smells like ass.
Pulling the mask down, and getting ready to swing out into the night air, I can't help but think back to what Ty said and how smug he was, talking about how I wouldn't have any choices from now on and how he owned me. How does someone become like that? Seriously,
Rapture? "What a shocking creep."
[BLACKOUT]
"Who is a creep, Miguel?"[/BLACKOUT] my holo-assistant asks as she poses suggestively. God, I could kill Gabe for screwing with her desktop theme. It's always a pain in the ass to switch it back.
"Nothing, Lyla. Wait thirty seconds from now, then delete records of my coming and going from the apartment. After that, go back to sleep mode."
[BLACKOUT]
"Sure thing,"[/BLACKOUT] she politely and enthusiastically replies as she's programmed to.
Aaand... I'm off. I have to admit, swinging around the buildings and dodging the Public Eye; it's a rush. I can't believe that I ever wanted to cure myself of these powers. Sure, there are some downsides, like not being able to walk around in the daylight without sunglasses, but it certainly beats having to take those hits of rapture. Disgusting. I'll make Tyler Stone pay for that if it's the last thing that I do.
