RoboCop Reboot

just our luck, the ED-209 will be RoboCops car and it transforms like 30/30 into a weapon.

The good news with this is that I'd finally be able to have a CGI'ed ED-209! :awesome:

I honestly prefer the stop animation to the stuff you see in Tranformers.
Not sure what it is but it seems more like you can physically touch it. The work on Robocop 2 with Cain was amazing. The thing was fricking scary as hell.

don't know what to think. Padihlla's concept sounds interesting and boring at the same time. and it sucks that Michael Fassbender is not in the running anymore since apparently he is now looking for an American actor instead. i think Michael C. Hall (Dexter) would be a good choice.

Pretty badass in its own right while still paying more than enough homage to the original.

Yeah I wouldn't mind something like that at all.

This is pretty much a perfect modern evolution of Robocop's look IMO.

And it still looks like it could be pulled off with mainly a guy in a suit, with minimal CG to enhance it a bit, like the compartment for his gun in his right leg.

That's a very cool modernized look for RoboCop, wouldn't mind if he looked like that at all in a reboot/remake.

His take sounds interesting, and this is coming from someone who doesnt see the point in a re-boot. He at least will show us something different if we will actually see Murphy's transition from human to cyborg which I would like to see.

Also, as others have said, Ed-209 HAS to be in this, his cameo's in Robocop 2 and 3 just werent enough after his great appearence in the first movie.

I hope we see ED-209 in this as well, and if they plan to reboot RoboCop 2 if they pursue a sequel, seeing RoboCain back would be great as well. Imagine RoboCain commandeering a fleet of ED-209s to take on RoboCop, would be epic.

^Yeah, I was always dissapointed they didnt have Cain go up against ED-209 in R2, I thought they would have at least had a brief scrap between them. So if we do get a R2 re-boot this has to happen for me.

So it sounds as though we may be getting a full on reboot, if Padihlla's comments regarding Murphy being Robo are to be taken literally. I quite liked the idea that was going around when Aronofsky was attached. This was where the setting would be in the same type of continuity a little bit further down the line, where the Robo project had since been shelved, then reinstated, presumably with a brand new character at the forefront.*

I wouldn't mind if it were a more similar blue hue like the original along with some stronger black in the muscle fiber part.

Suggest changing color for the visor to a blue or black as well. The all red doesn't quite work.

I mean the original design still looks great to this day. So the improvements shouldn't be a total overhaul but rather refining certain elements while still maintaing most of its noticeable characteristics.

I think something like the nanosuit from Crysis could suit a modernized look, it has a very good design. The suit is more like a layer of stretchable and contracting muscle than hard plates of armour.

I would like for sections of the suit to have the tight muscle armor fiber absolutely but the inclusion of other parts of the suit being plates of armor is necessary to still keep the spirit of the original suit intact.

Yeah same here. Especially with this here concept shot.

I don't really like this slick re-design of the old armour.
It looks like something from the 80s Battlestar Galactica show, or Buck Rodgers.
Once you lose the tank like quality, that design loses a lot of it's appeal. It just does not look as good as the old design, and since it is so similar, you could just end up sitting there wishing for the old suit design.
So, if they are going to go with a slick compact Robocop, I would rather see a completely new design altogether.
If you are going to lose the tradmark tank movements, lose the tradmark outfit as well, make something original go to with the new direction.

This sounds more like what Verhoeven wanted to do with a Robocop 4, it would be years later and Robocop is de-activated and collecting dust in a warehouse but he gets re-activated because crime is getting so bad. It would have been Robocop against much more advanced Cyborgs. I really wish we could have gotten this at some point as it sounds an awesome concept.

One thing's for sure. They have to make suit more comfortable for the actor.

From past interviews Weller talked about the suit weighing tons and having cold air pumped into the suit during breaks. It was agony.

The way I read it, a while back admittedly, that was the concept that the writers of the 1st movie wanted to go with for the second film, but the studio didn't like the idea, so they went to Frank Miller.
I like the idea for a movie further down the line, but not for the second one, as i liked the universe they had set up with Lewis and OCP and whatnot.

I think it's more important to keep to the original spirit of the concept, rather than the suit. We have already had 3 movies, comics and tv series with that suit, so if they are really going to reboot it, go all the way, no half-assed versions of the old suit that don't look as good.

There was an interview with Verhoeven around 2004-05 were he said he wanted to do Robocop 4 and use this story for it, would have been great if he had gotten to do it. Not heard the story about it being Robocop 2 so not sure if its true or not i'm afraid.

Yeah it looks like it could be made the same way as the Iron Man stunt suits.

If this reboot goes through they'd be crazy not to put ED-209 in it, although he would certainly be CGI for the most part I imagine. After the reboot though I think they'll tell their own sequel stories as opposed to adapting the sequels as well.

This design idea should definitely be used for some movie.

Sounds like Verhoeven was sneakily trying to get a Robocop vs Terminator movie made indirectly. :D

If you showed me that concept art from the knees down, I'd swear it was for Iron Man.
