RoboCop Returns?

I hope the new RoboCop is faster than the original. 1980s RoboCop moved like Frankenstein.
I believe that they'll still have him move at his same speed, but when chasing cars(literally), they can give him this boost thing to make him sprint.

Anyhow, I believe they could easily get this film right. I just hope that if Weller doesn't return, he returns in a cameo appearence or something. Also, I heard this mentioned earlier, but I'm really hoping for some kinda kickass fight sequence. Personally, I'd like to see them make another Robocop who they assign to be Murphy's partner(same incident happens to the new man inside the new Robocop suit that happened to Murphy). Sounds cliche, but I'd like to see Murphy have another partner after they killed Murphy's other partner(forget her name) in the third-film.

The only thing I hope is that they keep the classic design because to me it so awesome...

that is amazing, i just hope it looks like that instead of another...

What was wrong with the iron man movie suits they all looked great and were actual suits for majority of shots that didnt need cgi versions made up.

As long as Aronofsky's name will be attached to this, I am all for it. Robocop was a great film. Too bad I can't say the same for Robocop 2 and 3. I think this is a wise choice.

Robocop 2 gets too much flack. It was a decent followup to Robocop.

If they make him faster, it will completely miss the entire point of the original.

and how many scenes didnt htey need?

3 or 4?:hehe:

It s true. But it doesn't make any sense today to have a slow robot. I mean imagine Robocop with out his weapon. A simple thief can walk out of the bank. All he needs to do is run. There s nothing Robocop can do about it.

That's why they most do a sequel and not a remake. Hollywood should take the opportunity to reinvent robots with the movie Robocop. Since Matrix I didn't see anything extraordinary. I hope Robocop come up with something brilliant(not just CGI) for 2010.

I think it takes place in the same universe, years apart. Also I believe that it'd be a different cop getting the armor.

you missed my point. I loved the Iron Man suit, i just didn't want the new robocop to be an Iron-Man rip-off.

Uhh you guys are wrong. At all the Robo fansites, it is clearly stating from the people involved including Darren, this is a reboot, not a sequel period.

# QUESTION: Is it going to be a sequel or is it a remake?

Darren Aronofsky: It’s absolutely unrelated to the original. As Mike Medavoy already went on the record. David Self and my team have been working really hard on it. It’s a completely new universe.

This film has nothing to do with the other ones at all. I don't get where people think this is a sequel lol, when the man himself says its clearly not.

Uh, yeah: we've known that for a while. We originally thought it a sequel, then the producers said it would be a reboot. We know.

Read this page, and a few back. Clearly not "we" know. Because a lot of people seem to not understand it or think differently. I was just trying to clear it up. On other forums as well lots still think its a sequel, and not a reboot. So I just posted Darren talking about it.

Well its good to have finale say on what the film is related to the others.

i'm glad it's a reboot. the originals were good for it's time, but they're pretty outdated. if i never saw them until now i would've thought they were b-movies.

can't agree with you. that was the point. that's like saying the Kill bill movies were b-movies (and yeah i read that today). it's meant as a satire.

i dont thinnk robocop was meant to be a ''b-movie'' type of mvoie in the 80's. there were some smart jokes in there but it will still a classic 80's action movie

To achieve the same level of satire (that is, totally blatant, obvious mocking of corporations) that the original did, in this one, Robocop will be sleek looking, move fast, and be super efficient. But, he'll also not give a crap about poor people, won't care about anyones feelings, and will lobby for drilling for oil in Alaska. Also, he'll screw hundreds of elderly people out of their pensions.

I hope they actually make him move faster... not too much faster but just enough to be able to actually keep up with people... him moving slow was one fo the most frustrating things in the original film... children could outrun him...

I have these sequences in my head which I would love to see Aranofsky do since he sort of does angles like these where from a low angle like from the POV of a fallen criminal or gang, robocop bursts in with his gun blazing moving faster and stronger and being completely 100% relentless in mercilessly killing armed criminals gangs and his movements would be faster, fluid more smooth as he rampages in taking out guys left right and center... I would LOVE to see those sorts of shots

I don't want him to move TOO fast or anything like some humanoid cyborg, but definitely visibly faster with better inventions and newer tech like flight or jet packs or other weapons in his arsenal... not too much like Iron Man but more basic, industrial and brutal...

i have to say that Aranofsky does not have the required talent to make a movie a good as Verhoeven's original Robocop movie.

Aranofsky has done nothing to qualify himself as capable of making a movie like Robocop.

You need someone barking mad like Verhoeven to make a film like Robocop with its satire and gratuitous violence and gore.

I doubt also that Aranofsky can compete with the "i'll buy that for a dollar" one liner.

so....you say that the point of Robocop was to satire b-flicks, but you can't agree with me when i say that if i never saw the Robofilms until now that i would've thought they were b-movies?

the stunt double in IM when wearing the suit was walking very very slow. its thesuit. the reason he was slow in robocop is because you couldnt move fast in the suit. and tehre was no CGI. so in the movie he was a slow robot.
the new movie will have a faster robocop IMO
