After checking out the movie THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, I was quite impressed with the power of GORT. Now, we don't know what his limits actually are but we do know (or can assume) that either by himself or when he turns into the metallic bugs, he has planet destroying power. That seems to be what he was made to do. Just as Galactus eats worlds, Gort/the metallic bugs destroy worlds (when this option is needed).

So, my question is, where would you guys put GORT on the Marvel 'power level' list?

Thor level?
Hulk level?
Odin level?

GORT himself seemed to be intouchable and it was even mentioned in the movie that he was impervious (or something to that effect) and the metalic bugs he turns into also seem impervious as bombs only made the mass of bugs grow larger. The movie seemed to show that only Klatuu and the race(es) he represents have the power to destroy GORT/the metallic bugs since they were the ones to have created GORT/the bugs.

I just really did not care for the movie.

The wasted an opportunity with GORT in the movie bigtime.

OK, then, power-wise, where would you put the original GORT in Marvel (that is, what Marvel character(s) would you rank GORT to be with power-wise)?

Right? The scene in the original with Gort taking out the military still stands up today. And that was filmed over fifty years ago! :wow:

It's absolutely brilliant. I knew the SECOND that I found out they were remaking it that it would SUCK.
