Rocky 6

Finally saw it today and one word sums it up for me.....emotion

the script is thoughtful and has so much heart and i got goosebumps during the training montage, the end fight had hairs standing on my arms and neck and i sat with a huge smile on my face as Rocky walked from the ring with the fans chanting......for me a movie that makes you feel is the best type of movie and RB is a classic IMO......fitting end chapter for one of cinema's greatest characters:up:

Exactly my friend - emotion is the key word. A perfect ending to the character. RB is slowly becoming my favorite film of the entire series.......

Anyone knows where I can download the second trailer in .wmv or mpeg for myself ?

I thought it was nice touch to the previous Rocky movies. it was great to see Rock back for one last time.

I agree completely!! I had a smile ear to ear when the fight started...I really enjoyed it. The opening credits with "Take You Back" by Survivor gave me goosebumps. Really good movie IMO, the best since 2.

It's actually "Take You Back" by Frank Stallone. :cwink:

Great scene.

^ Really? Wow...kinda disappointed. Looks fan-made. :csad:

Oh well, its not like i'm gon' buy it as i'll be waiting patiently for the inevitable Special Edition Box Set of all 6 films.

Finally saw the movie. It was glorious. So full of heart. I'm not ashamed to say I cried throughout the movie. Sly to me gave his best performance ever and he shot this movie with so much care, depth and tenderness that you can't help but feel good and yet nostalgic about the movie. I'm planning to see this 2 more times at the theater.
All I can say is this movie and Sly were robbed at this year's Oscars...

I still get goosebumps when Paulie says "Rocky, last round of your life!" :D

Finally got to see it, and cried twice during it. Wayyyyyy better than 5. I can't wait to get the DVD, and the game on the same day? Sweeeet. I hope the DVD will have a ton of extras.

Antonio Tarver is 38?!?! Damn...he ages well. I thought he was like in his mid-20s.

Yeah...not much of a boxing fan. (w/ the exception of Rocky of course :woot:)

hmmmmn id have liked it if they released it in a case like "ultimate rocky" (1st film) would go nicer with the boxset on my shelf :(

give it a few months after the release. they'll surely release a new box set with all six movies.

I've recently had the pleasure of being able to see Rocky Balboa again, and I can honestly say that I appreciate the film more after the second viewing than I did the first go around. What a truly great, and rewarding film to Rocky fans of any age. March 20th simply cannot get here quick enough.

In Sly's fansite

Problem with that, is according to Dolph, Drago would have been seen in Rocky Balboa as a character who was to be revealed as having been exiled to the Siberian Gulags after his fight with Balboa in Rocky IV. Not dying in a hospital. Which was a load of bullocks from some UK site.

I've just started watching the DVD, and I have to say I'm glad they didn't use the alternate ending of [blackout]Rocky winning the match.[/blackout] It felt cliched.

I rather liked the alternate ending myself. However I understand why he chose the route he did. I've now seen Rocky Balboa about 8-9 times and not because it's the newest and freshest, I think it's verrrrrrry close to edging out the first Rocky movie. I understand the first one establishes the character, it was very charming. BUT for some reason the message seems stronger in Rocky Balboa, at times Sly gave me the chills at how well he acted with scenes with his son and the scene to get his license back. Very honest emotion coming through that he just put it all out for us to see. It has such great heart that it's hard for me not to consider it on top of the rest of the Rocky movies. Hell, even the more realistic fight style/camera footage has grown on me over the more cinematic romantic version of the other Rocky films. It's just that good. The only scene I felt Sly was off was the talk with Marie where he says shes dancing around her problems and comments he's better than the average bear (feeling odd he says he doesn't even know where it came from). Not a big deal at all, doesn't mess up the flow of the movie. Just something I noticed. Other than that  DAMN it's the real deal.

Movies for hte fans isn't a bad thing and Rocky Balboa is one of them. Sure it's cliche and formula, but damn after 5 movies, it's a helluva way to send off hte big man!

wasn't fond of the alternate ending myself.

the simple fact that he stayed in the ring takes away from the fact that Rocky didn't care if he won or not. that's one of the main reasons why the current ending works great. he's not there to prove anything to people. he's there to not only prove something to himself, but also to finally get rid of "the beast". he did that, so the result doesn't matter. it also took a lot from Dixon's arc. the guy goes through his baptism on fire for nothing?

Stallone made the right choice, by far.

After watching the film another 3 times, I have to say it's close to being my favorite film out of the six - it's just a great emotional story and a perfect finish to the character. I did prefer the ending Sly used, but I was surprised how well the other one came off - much better than I expected.

Out of the deleted scenes, the one's I think he should have used was him picking up after Paulie in the morning and he should have took bits and pieces from the other bar scene he shot. I would have liked to have seen the bar owner more in the final cut.

I believe the four endings he shot were:

1. The one we saw
2. KO by Tarver
3. KO by Balboa
4. The alternate ending we got on the disc.

I've watched it even more countless times. None of the other Rocky movies were ever this re-watchable for me. Holy crap. It's officially my favorite now. That say a lot

Of all the 1970's classics (Star Wars, Superman, Rocky) this film is the best of the bunch. The Star Wars prequels were more flash with CGI artsy effects. Superman Returns was a long bore. Rocky Balboa still has its heart and fire.
