Michelle would have been perfect for this role! Letty from F&F reminds me of Renee.

I'll give Rosie a chance, but I'm not too happy about the only Latina character in the DCEU/WoDC being 50+. That's almost as bad as WB getting an Italian to play a Mexican character (Adult Pedro in Shazam)...

This I don't get, Cotrona (who's not from Italy) has a look and ethnic make up that could easily be found in Mexico. I understand wanting representation but unless you accept only Mexican nationals for "Mexican" roles, that is a slippery slope.
What degree of Mexicanness would make a Mexican-American fit for the role?
Speaking fluent Spanish, if a role demands it, is the only requirement I can agree with.

Montoya is Dominican and Rosie is Boriqua, I see no problem at all there.
The Latinx culture is too varied to be so rigid IMO and it is not like Latinx never portray Italians or Italian-Americans.
Who decides where the demarcation line is? This is not whitewashing.

IMO it is more akin to East Asians being interchangeable in casting in Hollywood.
It is what it is.

Just did some research on him and Cotrona's ancestors were apparently from Calabria... I can assure you that Calabrese people, with their crazy obsession for spicy foods, are basically the Mexicans of Italy.

I think if they were gonna cast older, if we're keeping Bruce as older, then Montoya could've stood to be younger than Bruce. Like Michelle Rodriguez. But as a younger option, I think Gina Rodriguez could work:
