Eternals Rotten Tomatoes watch thread

If this ends up behind Venom 2 :loco:

71 %
The good news is if it becomes the 1st Rotten MCU film, at least its a film adaptation for an obscured IP, because it would be worse if its like Fantastic Four or Mutant that broke the streak of Marvel Studios. Oh well.

Anyway, I'm keeping my hopes up. The reviews from international countries could be less harsher.

Its only 31 reviews!

Wait at least until 100 more reviews are added.
That's why i put Top 5 so it would have a bit of wiggle room to go up.
When you edit it like that it looks worse.

What’s interesting here is that it started out with 85% then it went down to 71% as more reviews got aggregated. Very curious to see whether it goes up again or continues to decline when more reviews get counted.

Because its top three right now. But who know it should be out of that group in a few days.

I looked at the rotten reviews, if I'm not mistaken most are American critics (with a couple from the Uk) which are usually harsher/critical with reviewing movies.

Its now up to 73!

71% right now. Very interesting so far. I expect it to go up, but this ain't going to be one of the higher scores clearly. But that doesn't matter to me so much.

Same here. I’ve seen some compare this movie to a Snyder DC film and that could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on where you fall on those movies, but for me, it’s got me all the more intrigued to check it out! November 5th can’t come soon enough!

I likewise am very intrigued that they say it is different. I love my Marvel films, but seeing them try something new is welcome IMO.

FOR ME personally, being compared to a Snyder film is not good as I find his films pretty but messy story wise, atleast his DC work to me. Being compared to a Snyder film means a rotten score/barely fresh on rotten tomatoes

For me, Snyder had good ideas mixed in his movies but they all had various Snyderisms. If this ended up being something that had the good ideas without the dumb stuff sprinkled in, I would be happy.

I agree and I love that even now Marvel continues to take risk and some are hit and miss but at least they try and not do the same.

This already has 16 reviews from top critics tallied. Top critiX are usually harsher from what I noticed and could really drag down the over all number. While Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has 54 top critics tallied. So theres about more or less 35 top critics to be added in the tally.

I hope it stabilized in the 70s. Because a rotten rating is definitely going to suck and won't reflect well to the film. The track record of Marvel Studios in Rotten Tomatoes is just top notch, 25 movies without a rotten rating. I'd hate to see it end for eternity with this movie, directed by a very recent Oscar winning director. I just didn't eXpect this.

Wow at the RT Score. I thought this movie would be one of the best reviewed marvel movie but it might actually end up being the first rotten marvel movie. :csad:

Initial reviews are showing a rather mixed response rather than the wide critical acclaim most were expecting so I'm wondering if this will follow the CA: TFA path (start low and build late) or the IM2/AoU/TDW (start high and drop late.)

Hopefully build late, almost half of 37 reviews tallied are from top critiX.

In a weird way, part of me is hoping this gets a rotten rating just to show that nobody's perfect.

Down to 72%. Beginning to think Feige and Marvel made a mistake with this film.

Oh….
Brandon Davis is one folks who’s always the most reliably positive on Marvel films. I honestly don’t remember the last time he gave a Marvel movie a bad review. Now I’m even more curious to check this movie out!

How so? I mean, 72 isn't exatly a bad score to have. Whether overall or at the moment.

Its not a bad score, but it is quite low considering the level of hype surrounding this flick. There have been rumours and reports going around for months that this was going to be the best MCU movie ever, and potentially a legit Oscar contender.

People were expecting wide acclaim, and instead its getting a relatively lukewarm reaction.

I’m actually curious if this movie does end up rotten how reactionary Marvel Studios will be towards the reception. I mean, after this, I’d be shocked if Chloe Zhao is invited back to direct a sequel(if it even happens).

He gave Black Widow an 8.8/10 so to see him give Eternals a 6.0/10 is really surprising.
