So today I drove almost 1000 kms....I didn't go as far as I hoped.....
I drove and drove and drove....I went north out of Kansas (As the net said the roads through Colorado were the suck) and through nebraska and into Wyoming......I was starting to think about gas.....I hadn't gassed up since the nigth before.......So I get to Cheyenne and I figure I will gas up on my way out....I go right through and there were no stations....the next town was 37 miles...I figure I'd be okay.
For the record my Gas meter doesn't work right. Then the gas light goes on and the needle drops to its proper position at the bottom.....I paniced and turned around then next chance I got...I was about 10 miles out of town.....My GPS tells me there is a station just off the highway just inside town......I drive and drie and drive.......I car runs out of gas and stops.
I put the van in Neutral and just hope to get up the next hilll....i did and I rolled down it.....I stopped right by a sign that says I am 1 mile from the Gas station. I suit up and lock up the van and start walking.
Two trucks go by, the second one stops well ahead of me and backs up. He gives me a ride right to the gas station. The folks in the gas station were really really nice, they give me a gas can and start asking other patrons if they were heading north so I can get a ride back.
The second woman they ask saidshe wasn't but gets her son (Who was also getting gas) and tells him to gie me a ride. The kid didn't even argue and gave me a ride back to my van.
They were all very polite and without them I woulda been kinda ****ed...It was really damn cold. I gave the kid a Hundred Dollar bill and told him to enjoy his weekend.
He was thrilled, told me I made his day.
So I gassed up, took the can back and filled right up then went on my way....I was still about three hours away from Billings when I stopped in Casper....It was snowing a lot and getting dark...I got a hotel room.
Ahead of me were some folks from Saskatchewan, we talked for a little bit, then the clerk told us that Canadians are used to this kind of cold....We both all laughed at her....Said we're prepared for it, but we aint used to it.
Crazy Canadian Stereotypes...Also in Flagstaff the woman in that hotel actually reffered to Canada as a State....I was like, no it's still a country.
