Roughneck's Cross Country Adventure

My HS boyfriend and his wife are in Truth or Consequence. They have a little frame shop or something.
He likes to party,she doesn't.

I was visiting my favorite site doing some research for my travel plans in May.
I came across this,it could be fun to reference.
Where to Find the Weird and Wacky

If you've ever wanted to see Elvis's childhood home, or stand at the exact spot where James Dean died in a car accident, you might want to check out DriveAbouts, a nifty landmarks guide developed by Hampton Inn & Suites. DriveAbouts allows you to search all 50 states for famous and infamous locales, from the house used in The Brady Bunch to Frank Lloyd Wright's home in Chicago.

*Note: I know you've already been through some of these states,I just thought it would give an idea for you and anybody else interested. :yay:

Hey Roughneck. Glad you are still with us.

Cheers T. Thanks for the links!

I went to Meteor Crater.....I had no Idea it was there...I just saw a sign for it so I went...it was pretty cool...Though I did forget my Camera in the car.....So I have no pics....Bu the memories will remain.

I was just getting ready for bed.
I'll catch your entry later. :yay:

Sorry that I suck folks.....I'm gonna get 9, 10 and 11 up tonight

****...I suck

Day 9

I drove from Vegas across Hoover Dam, then up and saw the Grand Canyon, and then I stopped in Flaggstaff, Arizona.

Day 10

When I woke up I realized that Flagstaff was right on Route 66 so I decided I would drive that for a while...I drove it to Albuquerque, New Mexico. There i found the most prick assed drivers yet....worse tha Reno. I got a room and talked to a Palestinian for a while about the difference between Candaidn and American Politics.

Day 11

I woke up today and just had an inredible urge to go home, but I didn't want to go through Colorado, So I went North East....Through the corner of texas and the Oklahoma Panhandle....I got to garden City Kansas and it was about dark....I really didn't feel like Stopping so I kept going.....I drove almost 1000 Kms today.....I was going to go further but something told me to stop for the night....I checked my GPS for the nearest hotel and it was behind me and to thewest about 7 miles in Colby, Kansas....I got a room there....I left for something to eat and when I came back there was a horse in the parking lot. That was kinda interesting.......The Way home goes through Denver but it s really bad weather.....So I could go North and Around.....But I might go back South or east and back on the journey..

I have no clue

What's making you want to go back home?
Are you just home sick and/or feeling lonely?
I've had that when traveling. It usually helps me when I meet some folks and hang out,go to a bar, point of interest,etc....
Have your eating habits changed any? Try to drink more water instead of soda to maybe change the blahs you may be feeling. What are your road trip foods? I took turkey jerky to Ireland, god that was good.

Chill for a couple of days somewhere and recuperate. I don't want you to bail, but I'm not sure what to say to keep you going. :csad:  :yay:

But if you feel you must you should,no need continuing something your heart isn't into. :yay:

Well Today and last night the dogs were over hyper when I took them for walks.....I mean really really Hyper....I think it was the snow....we haven't been in lotsa snow for over a week...I think they associate the snow with home and that is why they were excited....That was what clinched the decision for me.

On top of that I have figured out what I needed to and it's time for home.

Damn you,I'm dying to know what revelation you had. :csad:
But I suppose it's personal or in the book and I'll not press the issue. :csad:
*aching to know*

I came to a Career decision and a Creative decision.

I decided what I am going to do for a living, and I am going to dedicate myself more to my writing.

And I want to put together small troupe and do some local theater.

So today I drove almost 1000 kms....I didn't go as far as I hoped.....

I drove and drove and drove....I went north out of Kansas (As the net said the roads through Colorado were the suck) and through nebraska and into Wyoming......I was starting to think about gas.....I hadn't gassed up since the nigth before.......So I get to Cheyenne and I figure I will gas up on my way out....I go right through and there were no stations....the next town was 37 miles...I figure I'd be okay.

For the record my Gas meter doesn't work right. Then the gas light goes on and the needle drops to its proper position at the bottom.....I paniced and turned around then next chance I got...I was about 10 miles out of town.....My GPS tells me there is a station just off the highway just inside town......I drive and drie and drive.......I car runs out of gas and stops.

I put the van in Neutral and just hope to get up the next hilll....i did and I rolled down it.....I stopped right by a sign that says I am 1 mile from the Gas station. I suit up and lock up the van and start walking.

Two trucks go by, the second one stops well ahead of me and backs up. He gives me a ride right to the gas station. The folks in the gas station were really really nice, they give me a gas can and start asking other patrons if they were heading north so I can get a ride back.

The second woman they ask saidshe wasn't but gets her son (Who was also getting gas) and tells him to gie me a ride. The kid didn't even argue and gave me a ride back to my van.

They were all very polite and without them I woulda been kinda ****ed...It was really damn cold. I gave the kid a Hundred Dollar bill and told him to enjoy his weekend.

He was thrilled, told me I made his day.

So I gassed up, took the can back and filled right up then went on my way....I was still about three hours away from Billings when I stopped in Casper....It was snowing a lot and getting dark...I got a hotel room.

Ahead of me were some folks from Saskatchewan, we talked for a little bit, then the clerk told us that Canadians are used to this kind of cold....We both all laughed at her....Said we're prepared for it, but we aint used to it.

Crazy Canadian Stereotypes...Also in Flagstaff the woman in that hotel actually reffered to Canada as a State....I was like, no it's still a country.

If you ever need an electrician for your theater let me know. ;)

Sometimes travel renews my faith in humanity. Rare instances you come across some really awesome souls.

Oh that theater.....I was thinking my Home theater....which I am gonna buy and redo my basement for.....I dind't think I'd mentioned that.....Yeah, thaks

So Today I drove 800 some kms....Boring as heck.....I am back in Great Falls Montana......Where it started...same hotel, differnt floor....Tomorrow I head bakc to my Dads
