Rumor: Mass Effect Trilogy coming to PS3?

EA: Mass Effect on PS3 a necessity not a choice

Gamer.Blorge: "One of the longest running rumors on the Internet (besides Metal Gear Solid 4 on Xbox 360) is the Mass Effect trilogy on PS3. The rumor all started after EA swooped down and picked up Bioware, the acclaimed studio responsible for the excellent game. However, with the economic situation, Mass Effect going to PS3 may be more of a necessity than a choice.

Mass Effect is one of my all time favorite games out there. I even have my character built up to use on Mass Effect 2. The game was so addictive I suffered from withdrawal symptoms while my Xbox 360 was out getting repaired last Christmas. The game had great gameplay mechanics with the turn-based battle system in place.

The rumor recently resurfaced briefly when EA execs indicated that Mass Effect 2 would be released multiplatform. The word "multiplatform" could mean many things; it could mean PS3/X360/PC or just Xbox 360/PC. The rumor was spurred even further when Edge reached out to EA and was told that they could not go into further details of what was meant by "multiplatform." It is a bit odd as to why EA would go to such lengths to hide the intended platforms."

I hope it does go to PS3. But they need to port the original over before they just put the sequel on there.

It would be great if they could port the original to PS3 in time for the Christmas season. I'd settle for just getting ME2, but I would love to be able to play through the first one and build up a character. With no DLC coming to Fallout 3 on PS3, I gotta have something to get my WRPG fix!

Question : is the combat turn based or real-time?

You can choose I think. I always just play it as a third person shooter though.

Mass Effect is all real time. The closest thing to turn based you can get is going into the Weapon/Power menu and choosing a different power to use, because you can only map one at a time.

I think it is time we all start to realize that the era of third party exclusives are over.

Indeed. With development costs of games nowadays and the fact that this is actually looking to be a highly competitive generation about the only exclusives are going to be 1st party or 3rd party that's bought and paid for by the respective console makers

Indeed and agreed.

Everyone wins this way.

Yep, the only exlusives should be coming from games made by dev's that are OWNED by either MS, Sony or Nintendo.

Altho this can lead into the one console debate. Should there only be one console?

Absolutely not. Regardless of where the games are, if there were only one console, we would see a scenario where the one console is rushed through development with several glitches (The red ring of death), costing about 600 - 700 dollars at launch, and more likely than not would be developed by EA :cwink:

yes competition is a good thing. The Wii is crushing the 360/PS3 in terms of sales. Imagine if we were stuck with that as the only console on the market

*shudders*

Im with you guys tho, im all for multiple consoles.

If there was only one console, it'd be like in China where they only have one political party. Granted you probably wouldn't get thrown into a political prison for saying you hate Wii, but still, no competition = bad.
