Rumor: MGS1 coming to XBLA

Yea, id love to revisit MGS, i just dont think well see it on the XBLA.

I bought Red Orchestra off of steam the other day, Digital Distribution is great esp for breathing life into older games, there were alot of new people pouring into the server of a 4 year old game. Because old games are so cheap, no quibbles about throwing some money out.

I just can't see this happening. Wouldn't MGS be too big for Microsoft's 350MB limit on Xbox Live Arcade? How much can a CD-ROM hold?

Well, I think it was on 2 disks for ps1 and each disk was about 600-700 mb. (less on the second disk probably)
The pirated ripped version for the pc with the sounds and cut scenes taken out was about 150mb compressed.

Then it's pretty obvious that MGS can't even go on XBLA because it's too damn big.

Then what's the point of playing MGS?

I was using it as a size comparison.
They should be able to compress it quite abit I think. That if it is of course, I dono.

The limit was raised for Penny Arcade Adventures. There's no reason it can't be raised again. I mean the Xbox Originals are well over a GB each. It's not like they are against having large downloads, I don't think it's a hard thing to do to take the cap off the size limit.

But Xbox Originals aren't a part of XBLA and whenever Microsoft increases the limit they do it in incriments of about 100-200 MB. Even with a 600 MB limit, MGS would still be too big for XBLA and it doesn't qualify either for Xbox Originals since it wasn't an Xbox game.

I'm just saying. There's no reason they have to follow what they have been doing. They do make the rules and could increase it however much they want if they thought they had a good investment.

But I'm just thinking would Microsoft really want to raise the limit for Konami yet again?

What the hell are you doing here Blas? You haven't even beaten MGS3 yet! :cmad:

For an updated MGS, I'd rather stick with Twin Snakes. I don't know what being on XBLA would add to the experience, if it's even true.

Maybe they'll release this, and then a BC update with MGS2 on it. So I can consoled myself over lack of MGS4 playing.

They cant add Twin Snakes bc of Nintendo. Its no big loss anyway as the original was better. TTS got alot of criticism from fans and I think Konami prefers to stick with the first

Of course Konami would rather stick with the original MGS because it's theirs. Every time Metal Gear Solid is referenced, it's with the Playstation 1 graphics. Getting Twin Snakes on XBLA would be a nightmare, so certainly it'll never happen. My post was that I don't know what being on the XBLA would add other than being disc-free. I know some people would download it; some people probably have downloaded the "Halo" and "Fusion Frenzy" games. If you've never played it, then it's awesome and easy to get. If you already have the game, then it's not worth the coin.

Also, I know I'm in the minority in regards to Twin Snakes. I bought it before I had a Playstation, so it was the only way to play a Metal Gear Solid game. I enjoyed the controls, the graphical boost (sans all the bullet-time schtick) and the addition of Rob Paulsen to the voice actor lineup. I do have both versions and have played both versions, but it's just what I prefer.

Now the original Metal Gear or Metal Gear 2, that'd be cool to see on XBLA.

I can´t see it happening because, like many said, of the size limit of XBLA.
Secondly, MS can be smart about it and create another "brand" of downloadable games, something like "Classic Games", where you can have any sort of classic games from the PC, Dreamcast, Amiga, Saturn and all that, which achievements and whatnot.

On a side note, if MGS goes to the 360, bet your ass that MGS2, MGS3 and even MGS4 will follow, it´s a matter of time.
The MGS series is not a Sony franchise, and Konami as a great relation with Microsoft.

MGS2 did go over to the original Xbox, when they released a version of "Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance" for the Xbox. No other Metal Gear game has gone to Microsoft since, and Microsoft is sure dragging its feet on getting that game on the Backwards Compatible list. While Metal Gear Solid 4 may make its way onto the 360 at some point, it will take a very long time for that to happen.

Bit of an odd rumor really though. I'd like it to happen cause then I could get all my friends to download it finally, but I doubt it will.

This guy thinks MGS will be headed to PSN as well as the XBLA. He expects an announcement shortly, so maybe well find out soon?

I still doubt itll head to the XBLA, PSN i can see. Being hot on the heels of MGS4, Konami can add some fuel to the MGS fire with an announcemnt of a downloadable MGS for PSN.
