Action-Adventure Russos' and Hemsworth's "Extraction" (Netflix)

That was my interpretation of things. But in all honesty I found the kid a more interesting character than Tyler Rake.

Definitely. I would have actually liked it even more if they spent more time on the family relationship between him his father, especially with his father being this big time crime lord. Hell I even thought the Saju character was really interesting.

Yep definitely, especially when you didn’t I know where his loyalties lied at certain points. Not good though when they overshadow the main character.

Eh, that’s like knocking TDK because Joker was more interesting than Bruce. I’d gladly take a Saju prequel series though.

Hmmm I liked it. Thought I wouldn’t. So what? You can only speak for yourself. The camera work is outstanding btw.

saw this last weekend.
action was pretty great. felt like the story was lacking. not meaty enough?

unless i missed some things, saju and rake were fighting like crazy, then Rake ends up calling him for help? where did he even get his number?
so much unnecessary (but entertaining) fighting if only rake would've listened when saju said he was only there for the boy.
also, when on the phone with his wife, he told her to take the money and disappear? did that mean he stole money, or he just had a lot and wanted them safe?

wondering if i missed some things if it wasnt as fleshed out as it couldve (should have) been.

on a positive note, i forgot her name, but her dressed was gorgeous when she killed the jerk in the bathroom. almost hated her getting blood on it.

Saw it tonight and I loved it, the set up is that tight Die Hard/Speed style formula that locks the action in a short time frame and location, it's tried and tested but it's all in the execution and this is done really well.

I thought Hemsworth brought some real emotion to Tyler who was the broken hero trope but again it's about the execution, the scene where he talks about not being able to watch his son die was a heartbreaker! and the kid mirror's it talking about knowing what his father is. I just would have added a couple more scenes with him and the kid as the quieter scenes they had together were nicely played and I felt they could have followed up on the kid killing the guy that wanted Tyler to sell him out, of course that could have tampered with the adrenaline rush pace.

The film is relentless and visceral, you feel the threat and the sense of danger following Tyler and Ovi on all sides, the dynamic camerawork and choreography is awesome and gives all the action sequences a dynamic energy and every punch and bullet has a thunderous impact, the action is like a mix of John Wick and The Raid, just absolutely badass and brilliant.

The way it ended I hope Tyler is alive and they build on his relationship with Ovi in the sequel, trying to get him out of his father's world as he cared more about how his son being taken reflected on his image and power than he did about Ovi's well-being. I also wanted to see more of Nik as while she seems to care about Tyler she also appears to be more ruthless than him which could offer some conflict.

The action movie to beat in 2020 and one of the best action movies of the last decade imo

Nice review. This has motivated me to watch this asap!

Prefer an Old Guard sequel over this one personally but hopefully we get both.

I don’t think it’s an either/or type of situation

Listen, I don’t think you realize the power of seeing Hemsworth and Charlize share the screen together.

I was just responding to the news that this was getting a sequel rather than your post.

Yeah, I remember being really excited to see the first one because the trailer looked great but it was so mediocre. Never bothered to see part 2, especially since they made a sequel to a Snow White movie without Snow White, lol.
