Rza to direct the Man With The Iron Fist?

That's like saying that you know a restaurant is terrible so when you get terrible food you knew it was coming. Why eat there in the first place? I did not know it was a terrible restaurant and I won't be going back.

only way you didn't see this film as being bad is if you didn't watch any footage lol

just by trailers alone i could tell it wouldn't be good it is not like they tricked you with epic trailers like x men 3 lol

hahaha no, its not at all like saying that

a better analogy would be going to taco bell thinking its a 5-star restaurant instead of a fast food joint. it would suck.

if you specifically want taco bell, its awesome

I'm really only curious about two things in this movie.

How was Russell Crowe? I've heard his performance was the best thing about it.

Is there any girl-on-girl action? The preview made it look like there might be, but it was so fast I couldn't tell.

Russell Crowe was fine. He is the best actor in this movie; but, that is not saying a lot.

I'm not sure if this qualify as a girl-on-girl actions per say; but, there is a short scene with a bunch of girls taking a bath together. Sorry, no nudities though.

This movie was awesomely cheesy!!

It has some of the worst acting and dialogue I have ever seen in a movie; but, I anticipated it. I only went to see the movie to see people killing each other and that's what I got. So I'm satisfied.

I didn't expect a great flick acting wise, but I did think there would be some decent action.

...wasn't the case, for the most part (though I did fall asleep for some of it, so perhaps there was a banging action sequence at that point).

I'm kinda interested in seeing the longer cut RZA wanted.

It shows that blocking the shots right and good editing (with good pacing) can make a B-movie feel fun and not tedious.

But it had great set designs though. I'll give it that much.

i liked this movie a lot. great homage to 70s/80s b movies and kung fu flicks. bad acting, silly dialogue. but you know, that is kinda essential to this type of film. to criticise this movie for bad acting and silly dialogue is like criticising black dynamite for the same thing. which would mean you deserve a slap.

Black Dynamite is a comedy. TMWTIF is one too, but not intentionally. It could have a least had some good kung fu in it. Y'know the reason people watch kung fu flicks in the first place...?

Man am I glad I didn't see this in theaters. When I first saw the trailer I thought this could've been cool, and parts of it were (mainly the costumes and sets and Crowe) but to me this felt like an elaborate fan film. It's as if Rza got done working on Kill Bill and thought to himself "I'M GONNA DO MY OWN KILL BILL" except it's not nearly as exciting or polished. I agree with all those who say that casting himself as the lead was a mistake. Crowe outshined everyone by far and even the guy who felt like the co-lead (X-Blade) still fell extremely flat (I never cared for Ricky Yune anyway).

If Rza wanted to do a kung fu flick for his directional debut, he probably should've done something on a smaller scale and not cast himself as the lead. Rza isn't photogenic and he looked bored most of the time. Wiki also said he spent 1 to 2 hours a day for 2 months training in Hung Ga for the film, but it looked like he barely knew the basics. If he wanted a black man as the lead he would've been better of with someone like Michael Jai White who not only looks great on camera, but has trained in martial arts for a long time.

Anyway, the only redeemable parts of this movie are (again) the costumes, set pieces, the weapons, Crowe, Liu, and Batista going bronze every once in a while. I didn't even dig the music, which was a shame because I enjoyed what he did for Kill Bill. Everything, other than what I mentioned, was pretty boring.

So after reading many post of people who saw the movie ive come to the conclusion that I have bad taste in movies. I saw this tonight and I liked it I was entertained thoroughly the sets, the music, the costumes and even the dialogue didn't bother me not take away from my enjoyment. It was a solid Kung Fu flick brought me back to some of the Kung Fu flicks I watched growing up in 80's when you had Kung Fu Sunday's on my local tv station. Damn I miss those days

The big weak link in the film was RZA. He should not have been the lead.

I enjoyed it but I wish the fights were better. So many interesting things to work with. The knife suit, the iron fists, the Gemini Killers. Sooo disappointed the fights were mostly reduced to brass body throwing people around. I wonder if a director's cut will fix that but I doubt it.
