Sam Haggar Or David Lee Roth ????

It is a common known fact of those in the know that you cannot be a true rockstar unless you have performed in assless chaps at least once. (This is why I opted to sing in a blues band, instead; my ass is far too hairy for assless chaps.) Diamond Dave was the ultimate front man. He defined the role for generations of rockers to come. The mold was made from him. His ability to absolutely mesmerize an audience was absolutely amazing in his heyday. However, he is a sh1tty singer and songwriter. Hagar, on the other hand, while having some of those frontman qualities that Roth possessed but only by fractions in comparison possesses a lot more raw musical talent as a guitarist, singer and songwriter. Eddie was gearing up to do a hell of a lot of crappy synth-rock as promised by the glimpse of "Jump" that popped up on the "1984" album and I really believe that Hagar helped relegate the keyboard sh1t to the ballads where it belongs and kept Eddie more guitar focused with his presence and hand in the songwriting process.

Forced to make a choice, I would have to look at Roth as the best of the two, though, simply for the fact that he defined what a rock and roll front man would be for a very long time to come and his presence and contribution helped break Van Halen into superstardom and fame.

David it will always be Dave for me.
Diamond Dave always:woot: Just like Freddie Mercury will always be the heart of Queen.

i was just talking about this last night with a friend while bowling. "jump" was playing on the sound system and we both agreed that haggar couldn't carry dlr's jock.

oh yeah, plus haggar wrote the most overused song-turned-corporate and political slogan, that is "right now". i hate that f##king song with a passion. haggar can and should burn in hell for that affront to society.
