For the 7 of us who know Van Halen...

I was lucky enough to be present at the last concert of the Reunion Tour in 04.... I knew it was going to happen when he brought the kid out and was like "The Next Van Halen!!!"

heh, the kid that was in that video of Hot For Teacher is from my hometown school :)

Maybe he should go to hell...but he's doing well. Teacher needs to see him after school....?

On a side note, EVH's new amp, the 5150 3, comes out at NAMM.

I wonder if it's gonna be THE next high-gain amp, like the original 5150. . . .

My Line6 Flextone II head makes the 5150 sound like a beginner's amp...

the only thing impressive about van halen, EVER, was the size of eddie's ego...He is an amazing guitarist but van halen songs suck...

Well if you had to sit there and smile during Jump whilste playing a synthesizer knowing that you sold out, you'd go crazy on your son too. :o

Former VH fan here.....and VH hasn't been a force in music for a long time, but for EVH to do this to Anthony is pretty crappy, but he shouldn't really care too much since they have been at the bottom of the barrel for a while now.

Van Halen... everything sounds the same that they put out :(

Actually it's called Human Beings

Good tune
Correction, "Humans Being", it was on the Twister soundtrack.

I LOVE Van Halen. One of my favorite bands. I will say that I haven't listened to my Van Halen albums in a very long time. Eddie is an amazing guitarist and as much as I like him and respect his talent, he needs to stop being such a prick and come to terms with Dave or Sammy again thus resulting in a new recorded album or a tour.

Problem is Sammy and Dave have egos too. We really don't know what the real story is with them either.

Oh well, once a great band that has now become the topic of endless gossip and mindless feuding. :csad:

Right. You can keep your digital toy box. I'll go with a real all-tube amplifier any day.

I mean, how many GOOD heavy metal albums were recorded with the Line**** Flextone II head? How many GOOD heavy metal albums were recorded with the 5150?

Yeah, I thought so. . . .

just cause everyone and their grandma used the 5150 doesnt make it better. i know of a lot of bands that have actually switched from marshall and peavey to Line6. 300 watts of power 150 through each channel...i tune my 7 string baritone guitar to dropped A flat and i still get amazing tone and bass out of my amp. visit my homepage in my profile so you can get a sample of what i'm talking about..in your defense, though, i do run my amp through twin sheffield speaker cabs (peavey makes sheffield), but my head shatters the weak excuse for distortion that the 5150 puts out. no doubt...i'm willing to put money on it...:dew:

Fan no. 11 yea I miss the old days of Hot For Teacher:yay:

Did you see the episode South Park did 'bout that? One of the teachers was nailing Ike and Cartman started to act like Dog the Bounty Hunter once he became Hall Monitor.
But yes, Van Hallen kicks arse.

Maybe you played a 5150 with old tubes or weak settings. The tones Arch Enemy and The Haunted have gotten out of them are totally high gain. I know Van Halen isn't heavy metal, but that doesn't mean that his amp is only built for old-mad distortion.

But when you tune to G#, it doesn't really matter what amp you play because all amps, more or less, will sound the same with a guitar tuned that low.

but are you gonna doubt the man who wrote "Jump" and "Eruption"?

Its time to doubt him since he hasn't made anything good for ten years. Plus it doesn't sound like Eddie Van Halen if he wants David Lee Roth in the group. It must be a skrull or hes gone crazy.

no way man. i tried the 5150..marshall jcm 2000, mesa boogie with dual and triple rectifier, and even though i knew it wouldnt be worth it, i even tried crate...the line 6 was the only one that didnt lose the tone of the guitar with such a low tuning. my buddy had some fat tubes on his 5150 and it definately improved his sound...the only thing i never liked was all the feedback. i know they sell noise gate pedals..but the built in noise gate on the line6 is insane...i can cross pick technical riffs a la suffocation style and not lose any of the integrity of the notes im hitting. but i respect ya bro...what works works...its not really the amp that makes the guitar player anyway...in my case it just helps...
much love brutha

I think Black Sabbath would kick Van Halen's arse...

Van Halen was great in their time but Sabbath is timeless.

Hey muerte, I'm not a huge fan of cookie monster vocals, but your bands' stuff is pretty good.
