Sandman's big Story

Sandy HAS no "big story". He is simply there for effects. In my fear, cheap, roll your eyes, take you out of the story effects... but effects none the less. :down :(

60 foot @#$$%$#%%#$#$%$ Pile of Kitty Litter.
Come on slag. He's as classic as they come and being visually amazing is not a bad thing as long as there's a story behind it. The problem will not be that sandman has never had his own "big story", seeing that so far the first two movies have used very loose translations of villains' stories from the comics. There's no reason to think that this movie will be any different. If there is a problem it will be the number of villains that will need to be introduced in this movie and the fact that the only way to do this without it feeling too cluttered is to tie them all together somehow, which could make things feel forced.

I'm sorry TheSlag, but Sandman is certainly not a "60 foot @#$$%$#%%#$#$%$ Pile of Kitty Litter," and I'm suprised you'd say that.

he's at least 80 feet or more.

^That was bad. They had a one issue flashback and it was just some testing on Marko. They really rushed it just so they could do Ultimate Six.

Maybe the can make up for that by, incorparating some of the original Sandman concept stories with the Ultimate version. :spidey:

Believe me SZ,there's really nothing to take from Ultimate Sandman. In his only appearance in USM they didn't show his origin and he didn't even say anything,I'm pretty sure he did in Ultimate Six,though.

If you think about it all of Spider-Man's villains have big defining stories about them that make them an archvillian. Green Goblin is obviously the Gwen Stacy story line. And maybe the clone saga. Doc Ock has the death of Cap Stacy. He also has all of the Sinister Six stories under his belt(he was always the leader). Kraven has his last hunt. Venom has his first appearence(easily his biggest story), and his first big fight with Spider-Man story. Carnage (and again maybe Venom) have Max. Carnage. My point is all of these main villains are big enough to hace an entire story built around them. I have nearly every single Spider-Man comic. I can't seem to find a really good Sandman story. What story is there that can carry an entire movie. And again maybe that's why we have like 20 villians this movie as well as Sandman.

Hmm you make a good point. Of course Sandman was part of the Sinister 6 stories but there hasn't been anything defining towards the character.

Of course SM 2 didn't really follow any stories of Doctor Octopus that I am aware of so it could follow it's own story.

It could be the reason why there are more than one villain in this story.

IMO I believe Harry's story of brother against brother will be told more than anything else....

The only two big Sandman stories I can think of would be his first appearance and the New Sinister Six where Venom bit him and it killed him.And Venom is supposedly in this film...but no,they would never go with something dumb like that. They came up with good new stories for GG and Ock I'm sure they will for Sandman too.
See I thought about those two stories as well. But as far as the new stories go, Sam Raimi obviously used some of the source material. GG, takes serium, goes nuts, finds out who Spider-Man is, and throws girl friend off a bridge. Ok. Then Doc Ock, in the middle of a science experiment, looses control of it and has it blow up in his face bonding him to his metal arms. He then sets out to steal money to continue his work. Follows it as well.

Now we get to Sandman. In the comics he was a crimal who while escaping prision crawls through some sand from a radioactive test site. But, has no real motivation for being a bad guy. Venom hates both Peter and Spider-Man for rejecting the Symbiot and Brook for the Sin Eater whowa, Norman for the death of his son (along with a dozen other things). I think that's also why Sandman later became a good guy. He ran out of bad guy motivation.

So again, what might be Sandman's motive? What big story might they refer to?

Maybe his daugher or wife will die. I don't think his wife will die becasue they did that in the last one. So his daughter.

He's trying to rob a vending machine for not giving him his snickers

hey, that would be motivation enough for me

Here's a thought and it'd probably tick off many comic book fans, but what if Sandman starts off as a bad guy, but then Spidey helps him with his fam or something and then he helps Spidey against Venom, GG, and Man-Wolf (or Chameleon)?

I'm Not Sure About That Idea, but It's Different!

I think Sandman didn't talk in Ultimate Spider-man for a reason, actually.

Looking at the pictures of him, he's completely silent. His face is cracked like stone and he looks scarred, a shell of a person. I liked Ultimate Sandman because he was extremely menacing, and the fact that he didn't speak made him seem soulless and even more of a threat. It seemed his only care was to kill everything in sight. And they seemed to have a tough time fighting him too. I can post some scans of him in action, as soon as I find the issues.

post pics!!

I remember in an earlier issue (when the sandman is being created by Kingpin) that he was screaming.. this was the first issue that Ultimate Shocker is introduced I think.

I don't know,Bendis has come up with good stories for every other villain. But it really seemed like he didn't care about making a story for Ultimate Sandman.
