Spider-Man 3: The Absence of the Symbiote

I was thinking today of what scenerios would have been used if Lizard was used instead of Sandman and Venom.

The symbiote story would have never taken place, and we'd basically have New Goblin and Lizard together against Spidey. Also, would they introduce Kraven? Also, at the end, would they have a symbiote cliff-hanger, where the meteor crash lands in one of the last scenes?

This almost would have been better...

Then Spider-Man 4 they could use Sandman and Venom all by their lonesome with a Carnage cliffhanger leading to Spider-Man 5.

lol I don't know what I was thinking.. I saw Lizard, and assumed "How would the lizard fit into SP4?".. ugh.. Enough of that crap..

Why bother with such a major what if? Sam likes Lizard but after two mad scientist movies with experiments gone awry he wanted to get away from that. he wanted Harry and then used Peter seeking revenge for something to mirror that hence the made up backstory of Sandman, a character Sam liked.

That was alwys going to happen now whether the removal of the symbiote and Venom and the possible inclusion of a simpler easier to introduce villain (such as the Vulture) would have made it a better movie....we'll never know. Maybe, maybe not.

But why worry over it? It's over, now.

Personally, I think all of the plot lines in done pretty perfectly in SM3. To delay the appearance of the symbiote would've thrown off the whole symmetry of the film.

That said, I would have definitely delayed the appearance of Venom until the next movie. Or rather, ended the film on the cliffhanger of Eddie becoming Venom. I feel that would've given SM3 a bit more room to breath, plus would've allowed for a lot more justice to be done to Venom's character.

Sandman wasn't a scientist, but he got his powers for a science experiment gone awry... Man there's alot of those backstories.. Makes Venom more unique.

... well no offense to you, SlyGuyTtjn, but Lizard WILL be in the movie. You stated earlier that you thought this was another "stupid Lizard gonna be in SM4 thread, and how it would never fit."

Grant Curtis said after SM3 that he likes Lizard as a choice, and Stan Lee's already made mention of him. It's been in a few "rumored to be official reports" that he'll be the villain.

People, just accept it! Lizard will return. Venom is dead, and will always and forever be dead... notice it's only the 100% Venom fans that are saying he'll come back...

I just hope Carnage and BlackCat do not appear in SM4. They do not go with the Lizards story at all(assuming the Lizard is the main villain.)

I think Lizard and Kraven could be the villains and have Black Cat be a REAL minor problem, and end up as Spidey's friend...

so basically 2 villains and 1 who knows. :P

I think you'd have to take out alot of elements to make SM3 work including Sandman, The Stacys, Symbiote , and Venom. I think Raimi could have done his whole forgiveness storyline with Harry/Hobgoblin. Harry is conflicted between letting go of his anger or being able to forgive and move on. In the end the ultimate lesson could have been Harry forgave too late. He wasted time fighting his friend and living in his father's shadow when he could have been happy.

If they had kept Sandamn in the mix IMO they should have made him a criminal who get's these abilities and begins to think he's a god. I would have ditched the sick daughter stuff. Maybe save it for the Lizard . I think if they kept Sandman killing Uncle Ben , it would have been more intresting if he wasn't repentant but Spiderman withholds killing him and brings him to justice knowing that if he kills Sandman he's no better then the criminals he fights. That way he wouldn't let revenge take hold of him.

I can't wait for Lizard in SM4, as he is my favorite villain from childhood (perhaps this my "Venom" to many of you) but I completely understand why he wasn't in this movie.

Oh I know that, and I'm not denying it at all. DaCrowe said "Why bother with such a major what if? That's all I'm saying. And yeah I am a Venom fan, and no I don't think he's coming back.. lol. I would rather see Scorpion though, instead of the Lizard.. Just me. (I loved his story in the SP3 game.)
