Saying goodbye to an old friend...

Your cat lived for 18 years? That's pretty long for a cat.

Then again, I've seen an incredibly active 15 year old dog, so anything is possible.

Still, sorry for your loss. :csad:

I cried like a baby when our cat died. :csad:

So sorry to hear this happened.

This is why I've never had, and probably will never get a pet. :csad:

Hang in there, man.

I'm sorry to hear that man, sometimes our pets become like siblings, or even children in some cases.

For the longest time I hated cats, and I'm allergic to them, I found a stray kitten one night and ended up keeping him. I feel like if I had to do what you are doing, I would cry as well. He's like a little brother to me.

Sorry to hear about your cat. I had to put my dog down 3 years ago, i had him for 13 years and he was one of the best things i ever had, so many happy memories and we shared a very close bond, he was another best friend to me. My heart broke the day he passed, i was there with him till the end, even held him as they gave him the sleeping injection.
As sad as i was to see him go, i at least took comfort in the fact that he lived a good long life for a dog. I still miss him though.

That's awful. My condolences. I lost pets myself, it's a very rough thing to go through. Just try to take solace in the fact that you know your cat is in a better place.

No one will. But if by some chance someone does, report the offending remark(s) and said smart-ass will be dealt with swiftly.

I feel very grateful that everyone has been so wonderful to me in these boards. I don't think you'd be shocked that there are some insensitive trolls out there though. In a Monster Hunter board when I posted about my dad passing away and this one guy had posted something to the effect that he'd snuck into my parents' house and murdered him with his dual swords. That went over as well with everyone as a lead balloon floating on the water. His posts were removed and he was banned.

Sorry to hear about your dad and your cat. It's been a rough year I'm sure. :csad:

Earlier this year we had to put our family dog to sleep. He was about 15, damn old for a golden retriever, and had a stroke and couldn't stand on his own anymore. But he was determined to be a good dog til the end, dragging himself to the door so he wouldn't pee in the house even though he couldn't stand and we had put down a pad for him. We had to hold him up so he could pee like normal. :waa: He was my mom's baby and she didn't stop crying that entire weekend. Both my sister and I dropped everything and traveled to be with her because my dad was overseas and my mom would have been ALL ALONE having to deal with this on her own.

For what it's worth, I think animals know when it's their time. I'm sure your cat was grateful for the 18 years of love you gave her, and grateful that you let her go peacefully and with as little pain as possible. It was very hard seeing our dog look so bad and he looked so peaceful after he passed. We all held him as he was injected, so he was surrounded by love as he went into the other realm. It was definitely the right thing to do, as I'm sure your decision was as well.
