Sci-Fi - Should Execs be removed?

Farscape had DTV movies? Or do you mean The Peacekeeper Wars mini-series?

If you are referring to Peacekeeper Wars, they weren't direct to video. They were a made for Sci-Fi miniseries.

Okay, cool. I guess if you air a six-part mini-series in 3 blocks of 2 installments at a time, it'd look like 3 DTV movies.

yeah. They have them at my local Video store. I should probably go rent them sometime.

Have you seen the series? The PK Wars stand pretty well on their own, but they're much better if you know the context for everything.

having not watched Farscape at all....I did enjoy the peacekeeper wars

not everyone that watches ECW is a redneck....WWE and Universal figure that a good chunk of Sci-Fi's demographic probably watches wrestling, and they aren't half wrong.....its one hour a week on a Tuesday night, get over it.....WWE and Universal have a deal, thats why its on Sci-Fi.....I like BSG, Stargate, Eureka.....what is it exaclty that Eureka needs??? It seems to be doing fine, it just got a third season....

Not trashing wrestling but it has no place on scifi. No more than Braveheart (one of my fave movies) or Apollo 13 does.

yeah. Air ECW on USA. Not Sci-Fi, hell Dresden could replace ECW.
Think about it:

Eureka
Dresden Files
Twilight Zone.

Tuesday night match made in Heaven.

It's simply part of the deal between WWE and Universal....It's getting people who wouldn't normally watch the channel to tune in and maybe see a commercial for a show they might like......thus causing them to tune in more often......

Yes, Because Billie Jack Joe who tuned in to see who is going to win a shinny "title Belt" by beating the **** out of each other is going to suddenly get interested in Doctor Who or BSG. It gets them ratings, but then again if you put a bunch of lesbian porn on Lifetime wouldn't that get ratings? and how many people would stick around lifetime once that was over?

It used to be a decent place to see old sci fi shows....but not anymore. Years ago, they threw in everything (Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Star Trek, Moonbase Three, Max Headroom.....) you were always getting something different.

Now they rerun the same few shows over and over. Sometimes the Saturday Night Monster movie is watchable.....mostly not though.

I don't know if any of you guys remember....but they used to actually have talk shows that discussed the latest in sci fi books, movies, and the like. Now we get wrestling.

ditto

Here's a business lesson. Sci-Fi is owned by Universal, who also owns NBC. Star Trek series (TNG, Voyager, DS9) are owned by Viacom, who owns CBS and is a cheif rival of universal. TNG and Voyager reruns are on Viacom owned Spike TV....Why would one company allow its business rival to air its programming and garner viewers???? Anyone.....anyone.....I'll wait.....

I never understood why Scifi would cancel Farscape, then hire all the actors back to do a Stargate series! Doesn't make any sense. And you would think that as big as superheroes are, especially Marvel characters, you would think that Scifi would try to get a tv series with them*cough*cough*Daredevil*cough*cough.

I do miss Farscape. One of the few tv shows that has come out in recent years that I truly enjoyed. :(

PKJ was based off of a comic book....I really do not see a live action comic book hero series working.....look at Blade.....

PKJ isn't a Marvel character and isn't well known. I think a DD or Deadpool series could work. Heck, Blade would have worked had it been on a different network. It was one of the highest rated, if not the highest rated show on the network but they cancelled it cuase they couldn't afford to pay for the special effects. DD could be like CSI with a superhero touch.

Tell me this Genius Business man, if they won't allow them to air Star Trek then why is Enterprise on every friday at 8-11?

Sci-Fi paid Paramount money for a series that only ran for 4 season....basically it wasnt as expensive as TNG, Voyager, or DS9.....

But when you think about, sci fi is going to make all that money back from ad revenue seeing as how lots and lots of people are now watching a show they've never had faith in.. but now that its back on people are giving it a second chance, check the Nelsiens for that.

but Paramount has no reason to help their competition.....and from what I was reading, some of the hardcore Trekkies had little love for Enterprise......
