Sci-Fi - Should Execs be removed?

Hardcore Trekkies aren't even happy with the Original Trek, starting a prequel series only went back to what the public enjoyed about it an entertaining social commentary, the hardcore trekkers want science jammed down your throat and little or no plot.

I've never seen the appeal of Star Trek, always seemed a little too sterile for me....all of humanity united under the Federation....Scott Bakula gets a pass in my book anyway and from what I've seen of Enterprise, I thought it was OK....I am a really big Eureka and BSG fan......and as a side note, the Galactica would tear the Enterprise a new one.......

The Enterprise would win on sheer weapon power.
Even the first Enterprise, the one Captained by Bakula would probably destroy the Galactica and the Entire Cylon empire in about 20 Minutes.

Story wise however, Galactica wins.

Galactica has tons more weapons, not to mention nukes....and a full Viper Squadron......I think size wise, the Enterprise and the Galactica are about the same....the Vipers alone could take out the Enterprise.....

Galatica still uses Bullets.. The Enterprise has Phase Weapons, Proton Torpedoes (Which equal about a thousand Nuclear weapons) and a cosmic shield to protect it from Supernova radiation and relativistic dust, the bullets would be burnt by the shields before hitting the craft.

Vipers could fly through the shields or the Galactica could just ram her.....Shields don't last forever......One Viper with a nuke attached could fly through the shield and land right on the Enterprise......we're pissin in the wind here......I'm happy Eureka got a new season and I'm wondering about this new Stargate series......

Like NOIR said, Atlantis sucks.. They need to bring back SG1{not just im movie form.}

Well Carter will be in SGA next season so you can just take that and like it.
SG1s TV run is over SGA will keep the series going and I like it.

SGA's been better than SG-1's last few seasons, at least. Neither show's really been that great for years, though. I sometimes wonder if the Stargate team needs some new blood or something to start making interesting stories again. Right now, the character quirks are really the only thing carrying the show.

as far as SG-1....having gone to both SG1 and SGA panels when I attended San Diego CC this year.....the actors on SG-1 seem ok with the show being over....they were on for 10 years......most people don't stay at a job for 10 years.....

Yeah, I got that impression from interviews. The actors all seemed ready to move on anyway.

I'm probably going to regret this since it isn't really the topic of this thread, but the Enterprise would wipe the floor with Galactica. The Enterprise is far more advanced. A Viper would NOT be able to fly through the shields. There have been plenty of examples of ships, asteroids, etc. bouncing off the shields. They repel both energy weapons and ballistic. The Enterprise also has precise computer assisted targeting. They could easily drop multiple viper's in seconds...and they have even targeted missiles before they impact. As slow as the Galactica's nukes are it would be an easy target.

The Galactica on the other hand has zero shields...nor do the vipers. And while the Galactica is much larger than the Enterprise, it's also much slower and less mobile. The Enterprise would fly circles around them. You also have the ability of the Enterprise to beam a bomb onto the Galactica and they wouldn't be able to do a thing about it.

Anyways...I do love Galactica...great show. Looking forward to the final season. But the Sci-Fi Execs screwed up a potentially good show in Flash Gordon so I hate them.

as far as Flash Gordon....the film, which I love, wasn't entirely serious anyway.....I had read some of the old comics and even watched Defenders of the Earth, which has Flash Gordon....it was all pretty campy stuff...

yeah.. but the whole plot of the show deviants from the Flash we know and love, the NY Jets player who finds him in a spacecraft with a brilliant yet stubborn Doctor who tries to save the earth from a Slightly Asian Hobbit.

He wasn't a football player in the previous comics or serials prior to the film.....He was the All American test pilot who decided to fly an experimental rocket with his lady companion and the crazy scientist who developed the rocket.....

The comic strip follows the adventures of Flash Gordon, a handsome polo player and Yale graduate, and his companions Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov. The story begins with Earth bombarded by fiery meteors. Dr. Zarkov believes the meteors are from outer space, and invents a rocket ship to locate their place of origin. Half mad, he kidnaps Flash and Dale, and the three travel to the planet Mongo, where they discover that the meteors are weapons devised by Ming the Merciless, evil ruler of Mongo.

This is the original origin and there have been about 3 or 4 different variations of it....

Yeah. Well, I'm going by the Cult Classic film that we all know and love.

which is about 50 years after the original conception of the character. When the film came out, hardcore fans of the previous serials and films flipped because of the changes that were made......so I see your point, kind of.....

yeah.. but to the public and to fans, the movie Flash was the only Flash.

That doesn't make it any more valid than the current Flash Gordon, though.

Its use of Queen music, however, does.

The New Flash uses Queen's music? :whoa:

I thought they just used snippets for bummers?

like I said before, when the film came out, fans of the "original" material were very upset.....so disliking because it deviates from already deviated material seems odd....
