Scorsese's The Irishman

Even if the de-aging is visually convincing, there’s gonna be a weird disconnect hearing older Pacino’s rough voice coming out of young Pacino’s face when we all know he didn’t sound like that at that age.

True! He sounded really rough in the teaser!

guess they could alter it

“It’s an incredible honor that The Irishman has been selected as the Opening Night of the New York Film Festival. I greatly admire the bold and visionary selections that the festival presents to audiences year after year,” Scorsese said in a press statement. “The festival is critical to bringing awareness to cinema from around the world. I am grateful to have the opportunity to premiere my new picture in New York alongside my wonderful cast and crew.”

There seems to be a bit of digital de-aging there while still being mostly make-up. Here’s a set photo of Al and Bobby for comparison:

I thought they were going for 90s era De Niro but I guess they’re deaging him a little older than that?

Yeah, same. In this case, I would expect the de-aging to be easier judging by the pics. They only look maybe 10 years younger as opposed to 20 or 30 that many of us assumed.

Maybe this is only the later years when they’re in their 50’s-60’s.

How can I not want to watch that with all the talent involved but it is a little jarring hearing old Pacino coming out of a younger one I guess we will have to wait and see Deniro looks mint condition here and miss seeing Pesci

Probably as good/bad as Gemini Man. ‍♂️♂️ But younger Pesci in that last shot was poor.

They really could have just altered Pacino's voice, it's not that hard.

The effects themselves are OK I guess, but they're hardly anything groundbreaking. Didn't they say they were re-creating Robert De Niro in his thirties? They shaved off 5-10 years at most.

I guess they’re saving that for later, though it’s absence here is dubious. I mean, if they really wanted the first trailer to make a big splash...

In the script I read, there’s flashback of Deniro character fighting in WW 2. That’s where the in his 30s de aging will probably be

Not sold at all.

The trailer is actually discouraging for me.

Not the best trailer ever, but I still can't wait to see this. This having Pacino, Deniro and Pesci is more than enough to get excited not to mention Scorsese directing.

It was a fine trailer, but the Scorsese craft is behind it and that's what I'm about. This is a Scorsese film and Netflix's trailers are never the best so I'm gonna go with the odds that this is gonna be great.
