Scorsese's The Irishman

Makes me believe certain Marvel fanboys here are 11 years old or younger.

I was reading the comments about this on a page on Facebook, and I think Scorsese’s comments were snobby and pretentious....but the comments had people saying stuff like “who the **** is Scorsese” and “who cares what a nobody thinks”, which are just embarrassing.

My favorite part of this is the idea that Scorsese needs to check some "facts". He. Doesn't. Care. This is the man who talks about how little time he has to watch movies. You think he is going to spend his time worrying about that?

That is my favorite thing about this. People like you have wasted more oxygen on this topic then he ever will. It's almost like some are acting so adversely to this, because they fear he might be a bit right about all this.

The notion that someone who is successful doesnt need to do anything is an embarassing arguement to be honest. You re not telling me anything of merit.

Secondly i have no fear or anxiety about blockbusters being cinema or not. Im not out of touch with reality or in the business of spewing BS because im emotinally hurt and fail to do some basic and little research in the field where im supposed to be an expert.

Sub 10% isnt invading anyone and people who re trying to defend Scorsese's and Coppola's comments are really trying to justify the unjustifiable.

We re pointing out some dumb ignorant comments and you re trying to defend the people who made those bad comments. That doesnt make sense at all m8.

How about try to defend the comments themselves (to give us some memorable and hilarious moments , we ll be forever grateful) OR better yet simply just realize we re not attacking the person but their bad comments.

Breh, you taking his opinions way too personal for some reason.

Just drop it and go to the marvel forum if it's that big of an issue, goddamn.

Whelp, can't nobody say the man doesn't have enough hype for superhero movies. I think it's refreshing to see this much dedication to the Superherohype forums. You could all learn this man.

I disagree with Herr Copola. My thoughts are definitely provoked when watching a marvel movie. I am thinking about everything else.

It's almost like their own enjoyment of the material isn't enough. That need to be told they are good boys and girls for enjoying it.

This is spot on.

As someone who grew up buying and reading comics as well as loves most of the comic book movies released It can be embarrassing to be a comic book/film fan.

Insecurity at it's finest. I get it, it was always seen as the uncool and nerdy thing that a lot of us might have been made fun of over but some of these tools need to grow up, man up, adult up, etc.

Who cares if someone hates what you like. Just ignore their comments and enjoy what makes you happy.

As I said before I love most of the cbms that have been released but am a film lover overall. Scorsese was not wrong in what he said nor was he pretentious. I agree with him in full. Everyone is different of course but when I hear or even use the word "cinema" it doesn't have the same meaning as "movie" or "film". He used it in the right way to make his point. "Cinema" is usually reserved for movies that are more thought provoking and deep. Comic book movies while fun and at times awesome are not high art in my book. A boatload of talent goes into those films but they're not what I would call deep.

For some perspective, this is coming from someone who even in middle school didn't find comics to be all that deep as some fanboys like to make them out to be. Yes, they tackled themes like bigotry, drug abuse and others but it was always on somewhat of a superficial level.

And if we being real and honest, I can only really think of 5 cbm that really speak to me when it comes to making anything of film value for me.

The Dark Knight
Joker
Logan
Winter Soldier
Blue is The Warmest Color
That wasn't film value speaking to you there, BN. :o

Not really. I can safely say i couldnt care less if ANYONE likes Marvel or SH comic book movies.

What i wont allow is for anyone to say a sub 10% is somehow an invasion.

Its funny how noone from the Scorsese defender even tried to argue that specific point.

But you cant can you being biased and all.

Just drop it and go to the marvel forum if it's that big of an issue, goddamn.

It will always be an issue when someone is not factual then gets called out and then biased people try to defend him avoding commenting on facts like snow avoids the summer.

Again you re not entitled to your own facts only you opinion.
Scorsese not liking Marvel movies is fine. Its even fine if he thinks they are not cinema.

Whats not fine is him being factual WRONG by say they are invading cinemas when they are less than 10% of the total movies played.

HE IS FACTUALLY WRONG not expressing an opinion.

And people who try to defend him are simply biased & hilarious.

Scorsese and Coppola can say whatever the hell they want as far as I'm concerned.

Thats a very great arguement. You should be a Scientist/Scholar.

This is precisely what I was talking about before. :whatever:

Look, you're very free to disagree with their comments, I do too to some extent, but in the end it's still their opinion and they're allowed to have it. Being angry at this is kind of pointless given how successful the MCU is and how much it's ingrained itself into pop culture. Kevin Feige isn't going to be shaking in fear or even slightly care about any of these comments, so there's no need envelop the franchise in an embrace as if it was a small child and try to protect it from the "big bad directors who just don't understand1111!!!!" as if it's actually going to have any effect on the MCU's future.

With that being said, is it possible to get back to this thread's actual topic?

To anyone who has seen the film, how good is the de-ageing effect? Does the youngest version of De Niro look better in the film than in the trailer?

I have to admit, it would piss me off if some guy on youtube with deepfake tech could do a better job than a movie with a proper effects budget.

Well im personally done argueing here about Scorsese's comments.

There is no point to keep doing so.
Im talking about specific factual errors he made and the answer is always "but but he is Scorsese and you re fanboys".

So good luck with the movie talk from now on.

I don't need a percentage to know that all comic book movies only make up a tiny % of movies released every year. Yes, it's a bit much to say they are "invading" theaters but my post was in regards to him saying they don't really qualify as cinema.

Your constant "not entitled to facts" schtick doesn't even make sense really. At least not how you're choosing to word it. What's really hilarious is that you are calling some of us biased when it's really that a number of us like myself are big film geeks/buffs. We don't solely watch comic book movies so it's not about being biased but understanding movies overall.

Just finished a marathon of Goodfellas and Casino to get me hyped for The Irishman. Good times.

It's about what you would expect with Scorsese dialogue.
