"while Routh plays the third evil boyfriend, Todd Ingram, a rocker with vegan psychic powers."

COOL! Superman is in it! :word:

I've never read these books, but it sounds that they are very popular. I think I have seen them in the bookstores.. the pics look familiar. Hope the movie is good!

Good to see Cera expanding his acting horizons.

Playing the same character.... again.

Oh, get off Cera's back... he may play the same characters time and time again, but at least he does it well, which is more than I can say for a majority of young actors.

This is a misc comic film, so Im wodering why it hasnt been moved to the right forum.

so Cera has to defeat Routh and Evans? ha! should be a good movie. lol

True, but you'd think that he could have alot of other offers for other films with different roles he would do it? Or maybe everything he is offered has the same role. So it could not be his fault. But if you think about it, could he play anything else? Or maybe when he's older he can play other roles. Or does he just have that look of the guy always striving for acceptance?

Yeah, maybe when he is older he will be offered other type of roles, why not? At least he has work. Besides, Sly Stallone and Arnie, and many others got very rich by playing the same type of roles their whole lives, almost. :cwink: :woot: I mean, just give the kid some time.

Since Todd Ingram is in this movie, that means that the Vegan Police must be too. And there are only two people on earth who I think are qualified to portray them!

Exactly! I mean, before AD and the few small roles he did before that, he's really only been working steadily since '07. I'm sure over time he will branch out.

Universal’s adaptation of the Oni Press graphic novel series “Scott Pilgrim”, which will be called “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” and is being directed by Edgar Wright, has announced a slew of casting updates for the film including Brandon Routh, Chris Evans, and Brie Larson.

“Pilgrim”, based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comic which began in 2004, centers on young slacker Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), who meets the woman of his dreams (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). However, Scott finds he can win her heart and date her only by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends in hand-to-hand kung-fu combat. The title has received rave critical and fan reviews for its mix of romance, comedy, geek/slacker culture, and comedic martial arts sequences.

Larson plays Envy Adams, Scott’s ex for whom he still has feelings. Evans plays evil boyfriend Lucas Lee, a pro skater turned film star, Routh the third evil boyfriend Todd Ingram, a rock ‘n roll star with “vegan psychic powers”, Satya Bhabha as the ex-boyfriend who can magically summon demon hipster girls, and Mae Whitman as the fourth ex Roxy Richter, a female half-ninja.

Also on the cast are Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, Scott Pilgrim’s current girlfriend when he meets his dream girl, Anna Kendrick as Scott’s sister, Mark Webber as a member of Pilgrim’s rock band, Alison Pill as the band’s drummer and Johnny Simmons is Young Neil, the band’s biggest fan. Aubrey Plaza plays Webber’s on-again off-again girlfriend.

There is no release date yet, but filming is set to start this March.

I can't wait to see a teaser trailer for this.

Scott Pilgrim is actually very different from Cera's previous roles. That's why I'm worried can he pull it off. That and his face. It doesn't really scream Scott Pilgrim to me. Someone like Jamie Bell reminds me more of Scott, and I'm sure he could'v done an awesome job in the role.

Do you have the link for this, please?

Scott Pilgrim VS The World is about to start filming in Canada and courtesy of one of the film's stars, we're finding out that Scott Pilgrim might not be entirely live-action. Brandon Routh, who plays one of the evil ex-boyfriends of Pilgrim's love interest Ramona, spoke to Collider yesterday and revealed that there will be some hand-drawn animated sequences in the film. Said Routh, "It's gonna be a great mix of real people and drawn animation," which reveals a side to the film that hadn't previously been revealed. Exactly what aspects of the film will be animated remains to be seen but I'd suspect that some of the battles with the ex-boyfriends will lapse into some type of stylized animation. Edgar Wright is directing the film in Toronto based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O'Malley. Coincidentally, Issue 5 of the graphic novels, "Scott Pilgrim vs. The Universe" hits comic shops today.

That actually sounds pretty cool. I think a few nights ago, Wright posted a few drawings he had drawn up & they looked awesome.

Someone made this:

From these Cast/Character Comparison pics, it's seems to pretty dead on casting, some of them seem a little old (Routh) but I'm excited for this pic.

Latest news regarding Scott Pilgrim & the animation sequences:

Last week, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” actor Brandon Routh had the online world buzzing when he said the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s much-beloved series would be a “great mix of real people and drawn animation.” How would the two styles blend in director Edgar Wright’s vision for the film? Would O’Malley’s hand be providing the aforementioned animation?

MTV News sat down with O’Malley during New York Comic Con to talk about just those subjects — and his response shed a little more light on what “Scott Pilgrim” might end up looking like on the big screen.

“I think what he said was kind of blown out of proportion by the rumor mill,” said O’Malley of Routh’s description of the film. “It’s not going to be like half the thing is hand-animated, like they’re saying on the Internet lately.”

O’Malley told MTV he believes Routh was explaining “more about special effects and incorporating some hand-drawn doodling and stuff.”

“It’s not going to be a hand-drawn Michael Cera,” he added.

As for whether he’d be the one providing that animation, O’Malley told MTV it was still early to weigh in on his level of involvement in that area.

“I might be involved a little bit,” he hinted, “but it’s still kind of early on that.”

So basically it'll have some of those sight gag type things that display emotions like in the books. I envision a Scrubs-type of thing going on.
