Why would Columbine have affected the first script?

Perhaps they thought it in poor taste to revisit the notion of a former high school mass murderer returning to wreak more havoc?

As much as I liked Stu/ Matt Lillard, that sounds awful! I also find it hard to believe that Stu could have survived that tv to the head.

Event he interviewer was like "Really , Matt, Really?"

Also the idea that one of two serial killers immortalized on film and the public media frenzy that had become of it. There's NO way something like on them being secretly alive and in prison and planning everything behind Sidney's back would've work.

well, that plus, Maybe the original Scream 3 was supposed to be the "Return to Woodsboro" - possibly a in-joke to the film makers themselves. In which case the murderer was again a high school student? You loose the whole "Hollywood" aspect when you lose Roman.

The original Scream 3 was supposed to be set in Woodsboro. As much as I dislike Scream 3, bringing back Stu would have been a hundred times lamer than the half brother thing with Roman.

Without Roman, we don't have the link to the first film and backstory that ties Sidney's **** mother to the events her daughter is now cursed with. Which, I do believe, will also play a factor in Scream 4. More family secrets revealed. And if not, ah well. It is 10 year later, after all :)

The rest of it is right. But the killer from the first movie being the killer in the third movie isn't a link to the first movie? :woot:

It is a (horrible) link to the first movie, but not to the Prescott saga/backstory ;)

I think personally Maureen's not going to be at the backstory this time. I think the killer has another reason for doing what he/she is doing.

Maureen's story should be done with by now. It's been told, it's dead.
But I mean, we have Sidney's aunt and cousin Jill now.......and possibly her dad again in Scream 4, so........my mind is wandering.

Wait are you suggesting [BLACKOUT]Jill is Sydney's half-sister?[/BLACKOUT]

No one is allowed to complain about Scream 3 ever again after listening to this:

That honestly makes no sense to me. As much as I loved Stu, a tv landed on his head at the end of the original and electrocuted him. How in the world would he have survived that!?

That's my thinking too, BMM. Columbine was a horrible thing, and anyone who was in high school at that time will never forget the effect it had on their own high school.

Not to stay off topic but I still can't believe they turned down Carpenter's original script, a psychosis take on the aftermath of Meyers in Haddonfield and dug more into the Michael/Loomis relationship, for Halloween 4 that than made Carpentwe quit the Halloween series for good. Which in turn got us three wannabee slasher films with no soul or solid plot about Michael Meyers hunting Laurie's "fake" (in my mind) daughter Jamie and the very bad Thorn crap, which pissed on the whole legend of Michael Meyers.

Go Scream 4!

does anyone have carpentar's original script?
i'd love to see it.

Carpenter's original script sounded like crap. It was denied for a reason. Michael Myers as a sexual deviant? A paranormal entity that could appear anywhere and everywhere? He had terrible ideas for Halloween 4! It wasn't until 5 that the Thorn crap came in anyway.

Link?

It's in old video interviews with Carpenter that I saw this. He talked about a couple different ideas he had for Halloween 4. One where Michael was a sexual deviant perving on young girls, and another where Michael Myers had truly died in the fire and had become something of a Headless Horseman style ghost for Haddonfield.

I don't know if these would be on Youtube or not.

Headless horseman Michael? Wow..

Cameron hasn't had that same luck.

Ghosts of mars comes to mind.

I'm actually looking forward to this film. I always liked the original Scream, didn't care for 2 or 3 from what I remember but I have to see them again to see if they're better than I remember.

I'd prefer that to Zombie's trailer-trash Myers approach, frankly.
