Script Review

Am I the only one who thinks this kinda sucks? :o

It sounds waaaaay too much like Lord of the Rings meets Men In Black.

That actually sums up what the comics are like quite well. If they manage that in the moviue I'll be happy.

The comics aren't like Men In Black or Lord of the Rings at all . . .

Myers getting axed kind of proves that he was a stupid and pointless character. Man I hated that f'n useless character and his crappy acting.

But the comics are very Grimm Fairytales at times. I need to get my hands on this script, it sounds great. I am dissapointed that there is no mention of abba Yaga though.

It sounds good but I will have to wait to see it before I say how good

Well, with the script being great and a director behind the camera of GDT's talent, i can see this being superb.

hopefully del Torro gets a bigger budget. he's shown that he can do A LOT with a little bit of money, and he definately gets the most out of his budgets, i'd like to see what he can do with more.

His budget will be around $70 million for this one - which means about the same as the last one, if you account for inflation.

^Yeah i heard that, but they said they are going to try and make it look more expensive than the first one which looked A LOT more expensive than its budget.

I hope GDT is getting a big reward on the backend for this. It seems the studios (not surprisingly) are following in Nike's footsteps and trying to run their productions as sweatshops.

^Yeah especially Fox! But, you can understand Universals apprehension considering the first movie wasnt THAT much of a success.

HB2 update from DelToro...

I am concentrating on HBII (some great details have been axed but the scope remains).

Rewriting the script (budget) storyboarding (for budget too) and planning where, oh where we can shoot this big adventure and stay on -what else?- budget.

For those concerned, he actually had to do this for the first Hellboy movie too. So, this is nothing new. The studios never want to do the film for the price that's initially called for. On a side note. I suspect the reason the first Hellboy's fight sequences utilize Sammael so much is for budget reasons.

and for those that live in the UK. He adds:

Right now I'm sick as a dog but I will be in London next week -ahem- and I'm up for algae if anyone fancies it...

That's a seaweed based concoction apparently.

Algae = fried nori, or seaweed.

It's a little thing we do when we meet up with Guillermo. I was down for the HELLBOY premiere in London a couple of years ago, and several of us met up with GdT and had dinner. He's very fond of the stuff, and we ate bowls of it. Delicious. He dubbed it algae and algae it has remained. It's what we do when we meet up. Eat algae. Gotta love that man.:woot:

I had feeling a lot of things would be cut from that script though, the budget just isnt big enough for all of the things in it but i still think we'll get a good movie.

Is that the thin crap that they use in making Sushi wraps?

Don't think so - this is thin, crunchy fried crinkly slices that are just delicious with just about everything, especially sprinkled on top of soups. Hell to eat with chopsticks, though.

Wow!!! I'm even more cyked for this film now!

It is a great script by the looks of things, its just a shame they have had to cut a lot of stuff out. Wonder when we will find out what exactly has been cut from the script?

I just very recently watched the first HB film for the first time, and DAMN was that a good flick!

I didn't dislike anything about the film, and Ron Perlman, Doug Jones, and Selma Blair did some great acting, with absolutely fantastic directing by Guillermo del Toro of course.

Can't WAIT for The Golden Army!

^Glad you liked it, TGA sounds like it will be much better than the first movie, so believe me, non of us can wait for it!

After seeing Del Toro's last film, I'm VERY confident in the fairy tale aspect, especially with Luke Goss(one of the most underrated performers on the planet)as the main villain.

lol :D

I have really high hopes for this film.

guillermo del toro's the most reliable director out there for me
