Starting with "Strange Fruit" playing in the background coupled with that scene with the cops...yeah, I'm feeling this. I'm feeling this a LOT. A very different vibe than anything we've gotten from any of the Berlanti DC CW style shows, and I'm liking it.

And okay, I may have the smallest of a bias.

Holy crap, I didn't know James Remar was on this show or that he'd be playing Peter Gambi. Now the Berlanti DC CW world really does have its own Alfred!

Whew! This was a great start to the show! Loved it, everyone was interesting and fun.

It reminded me of S1 Arrow minus the angst of trying to set up a love interest.

Im here for the long run.

Liked it a whole lot! Loved seeing BL kicking ass - and really loved that he apparently passed on some of his powers (of a sort) to his daughter(s?) Looked Extremis! Really hope this is the start of a crime-fighting family.

"Rival" is an understatement - this easily surpasses Arrow's (and every other CW/DC show) pilot in pretty much every way, imo.

Great start to the series. The most urban street out of all the DCU shows.

I've said it may rival Arrow in terms of street setting, it may give Gotham a run for its money as well.

This works best in standing alone apart from the other shows. It's better this way.

I think Arrow had a pretty great pilot but BL is certainly above it just because it didn't have the angst that Arrow put into itself.

I know they're supposed to be in Metropolis so technically could be in Supergirl's universe, but if she showed up it'd be a massive deus ex machina, lol.

One thing I was happy about was that it didn't have the "Berlanti" touch that all the other shows have. I dont see them following the same generic plot that everyone has. I would be surprised if we get a loved one who dies in the season finale.

That was a hell of a start for Black Lightning! Easily the best pilot of any of the DC CW shows! The action, characters, themes, music were all handled really well! Hopefully, the rest of the season is as great!

Also seemed to be a bit bloodier at times as well!

I'm not going to lie that might be most I have ever enjoyed the pilot for any tv show, especially the DC CW stuff. I just love the energy and tone of it and the music was so on point aswell. This feels so different than the other superhero shows on tv right now and that is so damn refreshing. I will definitely be watching more episodes.
