Born Again Season 1, Episode 7: "Art for Art's Sake" (SPOILERS)

Supposedly episode 8 is a total banger, the best episode of the season, apparently.
Keeping my expectations in check as I remember some posts saying episode 5 was the best of the season before that dropped and that has been my least favourite so far by some way.

So I thought Lou Taylor Pucci was going to be playing Muse, only to pull up IMDb and realize he was Adam this entire time :funny: Did not recognize him at all.

This was a lot of build up, so hopefully the next episode is worth the wait.

So much telling and not showing in this series...

I still haven't been given a reason to care about any of the new characters, and the legacy ones feel like watered down husks of their former selves. My only hope is that the final two episodes will somehow be better given that they're by the new showrunners. As of yet, there doesn't seem to be any clear or coherent vision that justifies this show's existence.

And in regards to Muse featuring in season two, I think the showrunner only said that his influence would be felt in the next season, not that he would physically be in it.

Very good episode on multiple levels, but I am a bit disappointed that Muse was killed so quickly after making his real entrance into the season. Still he was very good in what he did and both Matt and Fisk keep forming into what they will ultimately be. Regarding Vanessa I'm pretty certain that she led Luca into a trap and that she'll fully get on track with her husband. I wouldn't even be surprised if she eventually tells Fisk to kill Adam, when/if she finds out.

It's always smart to keep expectations in check but as far as episode 5 goes, the people I remember saying it was their favorite were people that aren't big fans of the show and want it to be further from the Netflix tone.

After in my opinion a good start, this show is starting to lose its footing. The plot with Muse was underdeveloped, I still feel like I haven't connected with the new supporting characters, and I'm someone who found supporting characters in the OG Netflix series cringy, but at least they felt fleshed out.

I think it's too late in the season to magically fix these issues but hopefully at least its entertaining in these final 2 episodes and we can get a banger Season 2 that will have a singular vision.

I like this show, definitely not a disaster but not as good as I hoped. I had problems with OG series as well, but I feel both have opposite problems.

Yeah Im glad 6 & 7 got back on track in terms of tone and quality of writing, 5 for obvious reasons now, felt like a very different show that was obviously why they went back to the drawing board. Heck of a save for it to be as good as it is, just hope we can finish strong to get hype for season 2 which wont have this problem of two ideas smashed into one.

I was listening to a podcast talking about this series and it never occurred to me that the first and only time Poindexter is ever referred to as “Bullseye” was when Frank called him Bullseye in episode 4. I thought that was interesting. Lol

The scene in Heather's office was far and away the highlight. Very tense. The rest felt like moving things along. Still, overall good.
