Born Again Season 1, Episode 9: "Straight to Hell" (SPOILERS)

I do think this episode was a step down from the last one, or as some are saying was a bit underwhelming as a finale. I think this would've been a perfect mid season finale with the latter half of the season coming a month later or something. Action was great though and this was quite possibly the greatest depiction of Frank Castle ****ing ever. If the new special is him breaking out of Fisk's personal prison then I am 100% here for that.

Ditto on hoping Karen's a permanent stay now. The fact that the original creators honestly omitted her completely is a crime against humanity.

I will say though, this being Daredevil's "reaction" to the absolute carnage Frank unleashed in his home was utterly hilarious

I think Foggy is dead. We’re going to see Elden in season 2 its been confirmed but im sure it’l be flashbacks. Foggy dying is an important to alot of these events happening so i think its important he stay dead. That said, i wouldnt be mad to have Elden back.
The only reason I'm doubting he's dead (bar the fact, the same happened in coming albeit different circumstances) is the fact he never died instantly.

Surely Bullseye would have taken him straight out with a perfect shot. They could easilly get around it by saying he was still not 100% from whatever sedatives he was on, or didn't trust Vanessa so didn't follow through with what she wanted.

He likely is dead, but him not dying instantly definitely has me doubtful.

Interesting that BB has known the whole time that Fisk killed her uncle.

Another great season of DD. These last two episodes were awesome. What a finale that was. Matt and Frank together, Matt and Frank AND Karen just so good. The apartment scene. Frank going solo against the cops. Fisk with his absolutely brutal kill.

Matt saying we need an army obviously hinting at a Defenders team. So much set up for next season and the mid credits scene. Bring it the **** on!!!!

It was good ,but not great, IMO. The writing was all over the place.

I think Marvel really delivered this finale and it didn't disappoint. Not too surprised Fisk decided to have Murdock killed. It's not like Fisk really changed at all. "Should you return to your days as a vigilante, there will be consequences." Sociopath.

I hope this army does include The Defenders. All of them...I kind of hate Danny apart from his iron fists that he can only turn on once daily. (I didn't watch season 2 of Iron Fist)

I can't believe that guard in Fisk's prison fell for Castle's trick. Are you kidding me? I'm trying to recall who that Anthony person was...can someone refresh my memory?

The lights going out in NYC, Punisher and Daredevil tearing Fisk's army up? This felt cinematic. Loved seeing DD and Punisher together again. At the same time, there's no way they can work together. Castle keeps messing things up. I would have said let that guy suffer--White Tiger's killer. Castle has a problem. He's crazy. At least it makes the story interesting. Honestly would like Castle being a regular, but it seems impossible given that Castle will always kill causing conflict with Daredevil. At least give Castle his own series.

I'm glad the battle with Kingpin isn't over yet. Would have been like DD season 1 all over again. If Fisk isn't the villain in the new Spider-Man which I doubt, then I'll be disappointed. I'm glad they've made this series a little more realistic and gritty despite co-existing in the MCU. They didn't shy away from f-bombs either.

Castle aside, I was also happy to see Karen again. Glad she's back. Thank God for the writers strike overhaul. Karen was absent, but at least she'll be back hopefully permanently in season 2.

Heather deciding to work with Fisk? For Christ's sake. "Daredevil didn't save me." Lazy writing.

With the exception of Heather, I enjoyed the hell out of this episode. I'll give it another watch. I liked the ending. Good to know there's still some sane people using a brain not blindly believing in Fisk.

The reason I'm glad this show does exist in the MCU is because I want to see Spider-Man and Daredevil collaborate at some point, albeit finding common ground and not being the typical theatrical and comedic style of the past three Spider-Man films. None of those silly jokes.

It would be great to see the Defenders all back in Daredevil's show. I'm still really hating Bullseye's suit. Alright, I'm out.

Everything happened so fast and furious, before Matt had a chance to recover, much less rehab it felt like we were watching a nightmare that Matt was suffering from.

This latest episode was a real head turner. :o

Glad to see Karen back. For the first time since early episode 1, with Karen and Matt working and interacting together, it actually felt more like the Netflix series.

I hope to see some of the Defenders but Finn Jones can sit this one out. I also hope to see some other heroes from the MCU involved.

What does vigilantism being outlawed mean for heroes like the Avengers or others? Does Fisk regard them as vigilantes as well? Would they be seen as operating outside the law?

I think we are going to get Jessica and Luke for sure. Danny and/or Colleen I think are 50/50, and Misty is also 50/50. I really want them to bring back Claire also.

Honestly I hope we got all of them, plus Echo. And I’ll take Kate Bishop Hawkeye too.

I hadn’t thought about a Claire Temple return but I could imagine Night Nurse being busy if vigilantes are being hunted by cops & can’t go to hospitals. Always good having Rosario Dawson in the mix.

So at this point, what incentive does Fisk have to not out Matt Murdock as Daredevil to the public?

In the finale of the Netflix Series, Matt threatened that he’d have Vanessa locked up for ordering the murder of Agent Nadeem if Fisk ever outed his identity.

But in this episode, Vanessa’s able to facilitate Bullseye’s appeal due to that same FBI scandal, so it stands to reason that she could wriggle out of any related charges pretty easily too.

BUT, Matt now has proof of Fisk’s plan with Red Hook and another murder connected to Vanessa (Foggy’s) so the three of them are back where they started at the beginning of the season. But I could see Season 2 ending with the Fisks getting arrested anyway so he outs Matt in front of news cameras.

Then Season 3 is Matt in prison (at least for a few episodes) with Fisk (and other criminals Matt/Daredevil put away) while Krysten, Karen, Foggy (revealed to be alive in a S2 finale post credit) work the law to get him out. Frank will of course get himself locked up to help Matt on the inside.

Oooooo Matt in prison is a GREAT premise for season 3.

He already broke out

I was watching and thinking "No way he would last in that cell more than fifteen minutes" Then the mid credit scene plays...

I wish to be as unaffected by anything happening as the swordsman.

Probably depends on who the Avenger is. Clint Barton he would have no problem trying to get rid of. Someone like Rhodey though, I don't think Fisk would be that stupid to go after an active member of the US Military, especially someone of that high of a rank.

I wonder if there is going to more to Matt's interaction with Kamala Khan's dad then just him eventually having dinner with the family. Matt could use this new friendship to send Karen or Kirsten or even Angela and her aunt over to Jersey City for a while if things get really bad. Also, the Anti-Vigilante Task Force would have no jurisdiction if a vigilante headed over to Jersey City and it's unlikely that the task force would be willing to work with the Jersey City Police Department.

With the bank robbery in mind, I think we have a decent chance for Ms. Marvel?

Frank Castle was absolutely amazing in this episode.

Might have been the best depiction of the character we've ever had. Can't wait for his presentation next year.

Yeah. Bernthal IS the Punisher. No one else comes close. I usually like the guys at Mr Sunday Movies but they did a Caravan of Garbage episode on Punisher War Zone and said it was the best depiction of Frank ever. I’m sorry but GTFO with that bull****. I would agree that Ray Stevenson was good in the role (he’s great in everything) but that movie was horrible. It was like watching the torture porn version of Batman & Robin. It’s offensive to practically every one of the senses.

I liked the nod to the greater MCU, but I don't think Ms. Marvel really fits in w/ the Marvel Knights tone & aesthetic.

I was thinking about that but given the gritty realism they’re attempting with this show (cue the response from someone on how much better the Netflix show was, yes we know) I don’t think a character with Kamala’s powers would fit with what they’re going for here. I honestly would rather no one that powerful show up but I’m fine with seeing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage again.

Yeah Jones and Cage should be the powerhouses
There's no way Spidey shows up
Would love for Moon Knight to join the team, but they haven't really established him in New York yet so it might not make sense

And I'm sorry, but I would LOVE a "We have a Hulk" moment next season where Jen shows up and knocks somebody to Long Island
She can take off after that, but it would just be fun

I wouldn't mind seeing Jessica and Luke again but also integrating them into the greater MCU. My idea for Jessica is that she is asked by Jimmy Woo to help him on a case. My idea for Luke depends on where he is in 2027. If he's still running the club in Harlem, someone like Sharon Carter could be a semi-regular or if he's back running Pop's Barbershop, he could be cutting the hair of Isaiah Bradley.

Haha yeah I’m always down for more Jen Walters in any capacity. Moon Knight could be cool too; I would love for them to take him in more of a Batman direction than an Indiana Jones direction like they previously did.
