Should they or shouldn't they?

Chris Wallace said:That last part of your statement is a weak reason, Phil. There's multiple cop dramas on TV. There's multiple court dramas on TV. There's multiple hospital dramas & married couple sitcoms as well. These have managed to coexist w/o being a threat to each other. And it's unlikely that NBC would put their vampire show in Blade's timeslot.
ReptileOrion said:I hope the show returns for a second season. Most of the stuff on TV is crap anyway. It is actually one show I tune into each week. I'm tired of all the comedies and dramas from NBC, ABC, and CBS.
So do I. The only thing they (apparently) can't say on Spike is the f-word.32CAGE said:Moreover, cable tv can be more agressive in its programing. I doubt NBC could produce a vampire show with the type of rawness as Blade and get past their censors.
Philly Phanboy said:Just the same, there's bound to be comparisons between the two series and budget wise an NBC project has the upper hand.
What would be wrong with them adapting a new character for every half-season run?

I'm starting to wonder why a network like Sci Fi hasn't offered to take over the show. Sure, they might have to tone down some of the stuff, but they could still keep it pretty riske'. Just air it later on Friday nights.
All true. plus, how would the continuation of Blade affect them starting other properties?DarKush said:I don't think the NBC vampire show would be much of a threat. Blade is already out there, and has an almost built in audience either from the movies or the TV show now. The NBC show will have to build an audience, and it will probably be in rougher waters at NBC to prove itself. If NBC hasn't taken the critical hit Battlestar Galactica and ran it on the network on a regular basis, and cancelled the so-so in ratings Surface, I wonder how much patience the suits at NBC will have for their genre/vamp show if it isn't an instant smash?
Also adapting a new character every half-season would probably be way too expensive. I mean, will they use the same producers, writers, actors, etc? What about costumes, FX, etc? Also, if Blade-with a cinematic history and a built-in audience flounders-why do you think the Spike suits would spend money on Moon Knight, Brother Voodoo, Doctor Strange, or other Marvel properties?
I think giving Blade another season to run the current storyline out and to see if it picks up an audience is a good move. I hope that's what Spike does, or another network sees the potential in Blade and picks it up.
Philly Phanboy said:I voted no.
I honestly don't see anything worthwhile to making a second season. If anything, I'd sooner see them attempt to adapt another character to TV.
Overall I'd rate this series about a 6.5/10 so I didn't hate it, but there's not much to gain from another one. NBC is going to be doing their own vampire hunter series possibly later this year so Blade's target audience is by no means secure should they get pitted in the same time slot.
