Season 5 Episode 10 Discussion "Mother's Mercy"

Not surprising but this was the highest rated episode of the series.

Yeah I don't get it, Headey has always had a great body and never been shy about showing it before.

Yeah, she showed it in 300 if I'm not mistaken. Maybe she feels she's outgrown nudity or something now. But I just figured if you're on a show like GoT, you should expect something to be revealed sooner or later. (Not being sexist here; I think if you're going to have gratuitous nudity, it shouldn't just be relegated to female cast members).

Emilia Clarke is refusing to do nudity anymore (I'm not sure what her reason is).

There have actually been scenes in the show where Headey has actually shown her breasts; I believe when Jaimie raped her....anyhow, the cg took away from the otherwise powerful walk scene....
No, Headey was never nude on the show before.

As for why she didn't do the walk herself, there's a gigantic difference between being naked on a closed set with a couple of film crew and actors and being naked in front of 500+ extras while walking through the city.

I hated this season. It took forever for very little to happen, in as anticlimactic a way as possible.

Now to be fair, I always found Jon Snow and Iceland to be dull. Especially after five seasons of waiting for the White Walkers to show up. Only now did it become kind of interesting with Stannis being added to the mix... but then they destroyed his character and story arc in a very anticlimactic way.

I also never cared much for Daenary's plot. It got better. But, not by a whole lot. Tyrion and Varys. Surely they can't **** that up.

The Dorne plot could have been interesting, but the writing was just God awful. The Sand Snakes were a joke. Everyone seems to have lost common sense. Jaime's rescue plan amounts to sneaking into the castle, and just asking her to come home. Then what's her name decides to poison Myrcella while the boat that is carrying her home is still within swimming distance of the port...

King's Landing and Arya's story line are still interesting.

I feel like they lost a story writer / director or something.

I didn't hate it, but I agree it's the worst season so far, and this was also the worst finale. I'm not a Stannis fan, but they've destoyed the character, instead of an epic battle showing his great tactic skills, we got a complete (offscreen for the most part) one-sided massacre. But he better be dead, there's no reason for Brienne to spare him.

Dorne was indeed horrendous, "bad *****" line included, just awful. :whatever:

Jaime should go back and, either kill Ellaria or have Doran execute her, if he doesn't, then his character will get ruined even more.

At least the Braavos part was good, Arya's arc got some development; Theon finally did something useful and redeemed himself a bit, his relationship with Sansa could be one of the most interesting plots next season, will they get their revenge on Ramsay?

On Jon Snow, if he's really dead like they have said in interviews, I can accept it, but what about the identity of his mother, will someone reveal it before the series is over?

Right now Dany and Tyrion have the best shot at the Iron throne, but it seems too predictable, it could end up being someone else (ie Bran), who knows.

Yep, all those who said "I'm done!" obviously came back for the finale... fickle bunch!! :oldrazz:

Is not the same to be naked in front of hundreds of people in plain daylight, maybe that was the reason, I don't know... but they should've shot it differently to avoid the CGI.

Yeah I see your point about it being in front of lots of people, just found its bit odd that she has never been shy before about disrobing.

My vote still says Gendry will return because my money says Gendry is not a Bastard for I believe he is Baratheon and Lannister for I think Cersei could not get rid of the baby with the Moon tea because then maybe she still loved Robert but when he was born Gendry was a reminder of Roberts unfaithfulness. She gave Gendry away then started to see him and then stopped.
My belief is Gendry will be King and to Unifie the lands he will wed Sansa the Warden Of The North.
Thing is most say Gendry is Arya man but really there whole bond was like a brother and sister deal too me.

I dont blame her, it isn't really necessary, and her male co-stars dont have to get naked and show anything so why should she? Though I think she probably just wants people to look at her beyond her nudity since she is still establishing a career.

I can agree with this. You shouldn't have to disrobe constantly just to keep your job. :(

There isn't a lot of call for it at this point in the story, I mean they don't show her sex scenes with Daario, and it's not a huge plot point for the character...it shouldn't be an issue at all really.

This season generally pulled back on the gratuitous nudity, thankfully.

I was expecting Dorne to be a lot worse in that department

which is a shame as i've been a fan since Gossip

This trend of people constantly being cynical about and doubting things is getting beyond silly.

We just want the best book character to survive.

Not to mention if Brienne truly does kill Stannis, she looses her honor and any value as a Knight.

Have you watched the show? :funny:

Brienne did nothing dishonorable. Remember episode one Ned beheaded the Nights Watch deserter. No real difference . Brienne never vowed to smite him in open combat. She vowed vengeance for Renly

Dorne should've been a full blown nudist colony.

Dorne was pretty disappointing overall. So many of the locations like King's Landing and Braavos feel so grand, while Dorne felt more like some rich guy's vacation home. There had better be some repercussions for what Ellaria did, so hopefully next season they'll do better with Dorne.

Moreover, Stannis committed a crime and confessed to it. Ergo, he is owed a punishment. And considering his crimes include witchcraft, fratricide and regicide from where Brienne is concerned, the punishment would most definitely be death at the very least.

Technically its not regicide as by all the laws of Gods and Men Renly was no king, but I think the point Drz was trying to make was that Brienne comes across as less chivalrous by abandoning Sansa and her vow to protect the girl by taking petty revenge. Because that's what it was at the end of the day. Stannis killed someone she loved, and she wanted revenge for that.

I never said nude, but she has shown her breast; like I said it was a scene where she was raped by Jaimie or some other sex scene with him; can't remember...

I have no problem with her either not wanting to do it, not doing it because she was either pregnant or because she had too many tattoos to cover up, I just felt showing full frontal nudity of her person that obviously wasn't her takes the viewer out of the scene. Like I mentioned they should have just showed Headey from the shoulders up, and showed the nude model from the rear. It would have been much better overall.

And besides, her head was also cg'ed onto a model in the scene were they strip and shave her in her prison cell. That was a closed set..but I guess for the consistency of the body, they decided to do it there as well....

I just think Brienne still possesses her honor. She swore an oath , she kept it. An oath sworn before swearing allegiance to Lady Catelyn.

Besides Gwendolyn in real life is so damn fine. Could you imagine her and the mountain actors children. NFL lineman for sure.
