Secret Wars to return next year.

I have faith it will be better than most events Marvel has done the past 15 years. I really love what Hickman has built in Avengers and New Avengers (you could even say his FF run built upon Secret Wars). Time Runs Out has been one of the rare occasions when I don't mind the tired Marvel trope of heroes fighting each other.

I feel the same about that. I actually think the execution is better than Civil War.

is there a read order for Time Runs out? Where does it begin and what books should one get?

Apparently Arcadia is a feminists paradise going by the description. Still more titles to be announced so guessing they'll be filling in the blanks over the next couple weeks. Love what they're doing with Kun Lun. I expect to see Kung Fu variants of a lot of Marvel heroes, plus that Shang Chi cover is just pure badass

Secret Wars’ Battleworld has already been announced as the home of several unique worlds, and now we know one more: Inferno.

Marvel will be revisiting the fondly-remember 1989 crossover “Inferno” in a Secret Wars tie-in series titled Inferno under the “Warzones!” branding. Written by Avengers Arena writer Dennis Hopeless and drawn by Javier Garron, Inferno takes place in a version of reality where the X-Men weren’t triumphant against the demon hordes and Manhattan succumbed to being a permanent “Hell on Earth” to quote Marvel. Taking place story-wise five years after the fall of Manhattan, Inferno pits Colossus and a small group of surviving mutants as they go to rescue his sister, Illyana Rasputin – but as “Inferno fans will recall, she’s not just a damsel in need of rescue.

“Colossus is a man obsessed. In his mind, nothing in the world is more important than rescuing his sister from the Inferno. This mission has consumed his entire life for years now. He’s failed four times and is going back in for another round,” Hopeless tells Newsarama. “On the flip side of that, Illyana has been living all these years as Darkchylde, the all-evil all-powerful badass ruler of the Inferno. That little girl lost routine was a lifetime ago and her brother’s noble quest is laughable.”

In the classic Marvel comics universe, “Inferno” was a temporary situation with Colossus, Illyana, the X-Men and Manhattan surviving to fight another day, but Hopeless confirms this Inferno region of Battleworld is akin to a What If? reality gone wild.

“That’s it exactly. In this world, the X-Men lost and vacated the possessed Manhattan five years back,” Hopeless says. “Colossus takes a team in once a year to try and “rescue” his sister but has always failed. This is the story of year five.”

The writer says “a lot of the fun stuff” from the original 1989 “Inferno” storyline will be brought back for this Secret Wars tie-in series, from the Goblin Queen Madelyne Prior to N’astirch, S’ym, and even former New Mutant Boom Boom and the brainwashed Alex Summers.

“Rereading those original Inferno arcs in preparation for the series, I was reminded how weird and cool possessed Manhattan was,” Hopeless says. “It’s just a great idea that even running across multiple series seemed to come and go too fast. I couldn’t help but wonder what demonic New York would look like if had been allowed to grow and thrive. This story builds straight out of that curiosity. We’re exploring the world of Inferno five years after the X-men failed to expunge the demon horde.”

Given this sees the onslaught of Limbo’s forces run unabated across the Marvel U, Hopeless confirms that fans should be prepared for some demonic version of Marvel characters show up in Inferno.

“Anything and anyone that stayed behind when the X-Men retreated has spent the past five year in hell,” says the writer “The demonic possession we saw back then was just the tip of a big scary iceberg. It’s like a cancer that has been growing and growing all this time. That’s right, a big cancerous iceberg of evil.”

Oh, Hopeless is writing? I'm out. Getting me to skip a Colossus-centric story is no easy feat.

Well, they're not shy about maintaining the Infernus outfits. :o

It amazes me no one has complained about Magik's boob-window, what with all the hand wringing we see over Power Girl's outfit all the time.
maybe its cuz she's got small boobies, less intimidating to the internet feminists

Magik is like a waif, so nothing is spilling out.

I've complained.

Is it just me or does Kurt, Pete and Domino all look like they're sleeping off a wild night with Maddie and Magik?

Kurt and Pete look like they are cuddling.

She's a bit on the twisted, abused and demonic side of things so the outfit goes with her fine imo. Especially given where she has resided for quite some time. Kind of an inbetween of her normal look and Darkchilde. She looks like a mix of a dominatrix, heavy metal character and Final Fantasy character. Buster sword and everything. Chicks metal.

I dug Inferno so I'm looking forward to revisiting this. That cover with them crashed out is pretty funny though. Hopeless is hit or miss. His Avegner Arena books were great so we'll see. Anything with Magik usually gets my money regardless, her and Eva Bell have been the only characters I really have found interesting in Uncanny this run.

so you're saying its okay for twisted, demonic women to show their cleavage and midriffs?
so a woman being comfortable with their body is twisted and demonic???

nah, I'm just bustin's your chops, mind you, but that's the line of thinking I see coming from a lot of people online, and it seems so prudish and backwards to me
Women fighting in bikinis is dumb, yes, but so is the idea that women can't wear whatever they want while men clearly can

Yeah, can't really win regardless on some those issues. I pretty much agree with you here. If that was more of a lighthearted "everyday" character walking around all S&M though I could see the complaint. Magik is pretty much a hell warrior princess. She's more on the heavy metal side of things, her background doesn't even belong in an X-Men book which is cool. One of the reasons I think makes her so interesting.

Some of the complaints have just gotten weird, I remember reading a whole bunch of comments acting like Gail Simone's Batrgirl was wearing high heels and was dressed inappropriate the whole run when the hipster Batgirl design came out. I don't think half the people making the comments actually read them and just want to debate.

I'm waiting for the day where men get bulge windows.

But boob windows are apparently much less rediculous?

You realize women actually quite often show cleavage in real life, its... a thing... that people do, out of their own choice
granted, the hole, the actual boob window, is silly, but this idea that cleavage needs to be wiped out entirely is overblown
The day men IRL start walkin' around with their junk hangin out as fashion, then I'm fully down to reflect that in comics

but I'm sorry, didn't mean to go down this dangerous path
back to talking about the reboot no one wants

it makes little sense with Magik though. She has never been oversexualized. Up until now, all her costumes have had her completely clothed, more so than other heroine. This costume is a big WTF for her bc its not representative of how she’s portayed or her personality. Its perfect for a temptress like Emma, but Magik? The S&M look is way more than a bit revealing for her. Dont get me started on the FFVII sword. I dont even know what that thing is supposed to be as her soulsword always had a distinct look before Bachalo redesigned her

Wasn't her Darkchilde persona pretty much wearing a bikni at points though? She's looked straight out of a Lady Death book in a few issues prior to this run. Believe it was X-Infernus. I thought the decision on the outfit came with the conflicting personalities she holds, and combining her previous designs. I don't know, made sense to me.

I'm waiting for the day where men get bulge windows.

Wouldn't men who walk around not wearing shirts be a bit of a more equal comparison?

Lol it was really a joke to emphasize how silly a boob window is for a superhero costume...

Men's chests and women's chests don't have the same sexual priorities. The boob window is meant to excite straight male readers by giving them a glimpse at a part of a woman's body usually covered. Therefore I stick with the bulge window.

Or we can be equal opportunity and give everyone butt windows.

is there a read order for Time Runs out? Where does it begin and what books should one get?

Time Runs Out began in Avengers #35 and New Avengers #24 onwards, where it's the Marvel universe 8 months later. So far the only non-Avengers book seen to be part of Time Runs Out so far is the upcoming Miles Morales #12. Avengers World 17 will begin Before Time Runs Out to fill in the gap.

You mean this one when Belasco brought her back evil?

I suppose. That wasnt right before the current one. X-Infernus was years ago. and she was under some evil influence and they had her as a soulless being residing over hell. She changed it when she got a piece of her soul back and decided to join the Xmen redemption. That look simply doesnt fit her now bc she has her full soul, she isnt evil, nor is Limbo her home. This was her look right before the current one:

As far as the black costume combining elements from her previous designs, I dont see anything about it inspired by her past looks. Maybe the asymetrical shoulder design, but its pretty different from her original Eldritch armor

Months before Secret Wars, Spider-Man has been criss-crossing various universes in his crossover event "Spider-Verse" - and now he's bringing it to Secret Wars.

Although the current "Spider-Verse" arc inside Amazing Spider-Man isn't even over yet, Marvel has announced that it will return in a new Spider-Verse series spinning out of this summer's Secret Wars, as announced by Nerdist.

Set in Battleworld, Spider-Verse brings together Spider-heroes of all shape and size in a story by Mike Costs and artist Andre Aruajo, with covers by Nick Bradshaw. Confirmed heroes include Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man India, Spider-UK, Spider-Man Noir, Mayday Parker, and - you guessed it - Spider-Man himself.

But no mention of Miles Morales.

Of the cast of Spider-related characters, Costa tells Nerdist that in addition to obviously fun characters to write there's some surprise favorites he's found.

"Well, I’ve got some ringers in my cast like Spider-Gwen and Spider-Ham, but of course I knew those characters would be fun. The guy who surprised me the most was Spider-Man India," says the writer. "He’s so much more than 'Spider-Man, but in India,' which is what I (stupidly) assumed before I sat down and actually read his comic in preparation for this project. There’s a real richness there, and so many unique things about him that set him apart from the other cast-members. This book is the most he’s gotten to shine outside of his original mini-series, and I’m really excited about that."

Despite being tied into not just one but two crossovers in "Spider-Verse" and Secret Wars, Costa says that his Spider-Verse story is self-contained.

"The entire Secret Wars event is structured in such a brilliant way that entry into almost all the stories is as smooth as possible," Costa says. "Spider-Verse features a cast of alternate Spider-characters (all big parts of current Spider-Verse event) who find themselves… well, I can’t give away the end of Amazing Spider-Man #14-15. Go read them. This picks up from there. Along with that, readers can expect this to be like any classic Spidey adventure: funny, exciting, and (hopefully) even a little heartfelt by the end."
