20 years ago today, the Sega Genesis was released in North America. I'm not much of a gamer these days, but back in my childhood when Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis dominated the market place I was. So, I have fond memories of the console.

I still have this great system, and I enjoy it from time to time. It was such a classic. Lord knows how many hours I spent playing that system. Playing Sega back then wasn't a pastime, it was a lifestyle!

I never had a Genesis. I was all about the SNES though. Still hook that bad boy up from time to time.

First game system I ever owned, still have it somewhere in my garage, along with my fifty some odd games. I need to break out my old copy of Tony La Russa Baseball and Sonic and Knuckles.

SEGA DOES WHAT NINTENDONT:

I miss my Sega Genesis. I had the CD and 32X attachments too. I was obsessed with my system and then I had to sell it to make rent.

I proudly own the Genesis PS3 Collection.

(Returns to playing Streets of Rage.)

So, what games did you guys own? I grew up poor so the only games I owned were the first three Sonic games, Aladdin, Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist, and the first three Mortal Kombat games.

Man I had so many games that a list would be too large. I'll just say that I definitely had all Sonic games, Street Fighter II, the 3 Mortal Kombats, Streets of Rage 1-3, and Tecmo Bowl.

I wish I still had mine. Had a good amount of games for it.

The first three Sonic games, Alien 3, the first Mortal Kombat. I'm having a hard time remembering which games I had on the Genesis and not the SNES that were multiplatform.

One of my all time favorites was comics Zone, Toe Jam and Earl and Streets of Rage. I was so happy they had these for download on the Wii. Another one my friends and I would play a lot was Mutant League Hockey, loved winning by default from killing all the opposing team's players. Checking them into the wall mounted spears was the best.

Genesis was my first console. I still have the box for it with the pricetag ($100 at Caldor). It came with Sonic Spinball which I played. I didn't buy a lot of games but I rented a lot. In fact, I owned 3 games (Spinball, Virtua Racer, and Ms Pacman) until several years later when I bought Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles used. I've bought some more recently (Shinobi III, MK2, Rocket Knight Adventures to name a few). Fun system though I hate the controller and still prefer the SNES.

I'm so old.... I remember buying a Sega Genesis with allowance. I also remember playing Streets of Rage 2 with my dad every day for a year.

My bro & I used to own the Sega Genesis system, and we had alot of games back then: Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Space Harrier, Outrun, Forgotten Planets, Sonic, Mortal Kombat, and others I can't recall right now. We did get a SNES later and I have to say I like SNES more than Genesis, but Genesis was still a very cool system, and much-improved from Master System (which was my first console system).

I started out with the NES, but I count the Genesis as my real glory days of gaming.

Sonic, Vectorman, Earthworm Jim...oh yeah. I'm hauling my Genesis out of storage tonight!

play me some jurassic park for (gen) today! and home alone 1 & 2, spider-man, X-Men, and addams family. yyeeeahh

Nice to see so many Sega fans. Heres a rare jewel I have in my posession....

I miss those days. I used to play the hell out of the thing and so didn't my friends, we'd all trade games.

Man I completely forgot about Vectorman. That game was full of awesomeness.

SNES > Genesis

I expected more from someone with a Shawn Michaels av. HBK doesn't enjoy your post.:oldrazz:

Man, I remember my first videogame ever... I was playing Mortal Kombat on a Genesis at a summer camp. I was the only girl playing the game with all of the guys, as Sonya, and kicking most of their asses. Man, that was a long time ago.
