According to http://dbthemovie.com/, the Dragonball sequel has been greenlit already, just days before its release in America. Isn't it a little too soon?
Posted by Al Norton on 04.10.2009
Al Norton: You mentioned other movies in this series, obviously in a project like this there is hope of doing more but are you already set for them?
James Marsters: I was told the day before yesterday that we're green lit for the second film and it's ok to tell the press.
Al Norton: So are you going to just stay in shape? Did you have a little post-production celebration of being able to eat what you wanted?
James Marsters: No (laughing). I went from grueling workouts during Dragon Ball to shooting in eastern Europe for two films, getting a little out of shape but not bad at all. I'm on a good workout now but as soon as I get back from playing music in May the stunt crew is going to have me again.
When I signed on for Dragon Ball I knew it was all about transformation. The characters start at one power level and they transform into a new and more powerful version of themselves, and that happens to each of them more than once. It's going to be very important to step up and give that physical transformation so that every movie that comes down the road makes the audience go, "oh my god, is that the same guy?" I'm going to have to keep topping myself and frankly I was in better shape for Dragon Ball than I was for Buffy.
Al Norton: Have you seen the finished product?
James Marsters: Yes, three times. I like it better every time. Twice in English and once in Japanese. It was dubbed but I chose to think that the acting was very good.
I doubt a movie that came in #8 in its opening weekend will be greenlit for a sequel. DD had alot better number but it didn't get a sequel, either.
With an opening weekend of $4,650,000 for a film thats based on a relatively popular anime. This movie is a bomb. This is at toxic level and Fox won't be touching this franchise for a while (probably never).
There will be no sequel to this Fox DB franchise.
DD? As in...Dungeons and Dragons? Um, it did get a sequel. Straight to Sci-Fi Channel, then DVD. It's budget was like 2-8 mil though. Effects looked ok for the budget.
Not true, actors have already said so. If FOX pulls the sequel, they are now liars. Just let Stephen Chow direct/write the sequel for 35 mil.
What do you mean not true. Those are actual numbers. If you want to frolic in your own disillusionment then go right ahead.
But don't dismiss those numbers as "Not true" when they in fact are very true (check out Variety, or BOM). If a movie does poorly it won't warrant a sequel. Its simple as that.
Oh, I know the numbers are true. I just find it hard to believe the...that FOX would not make a sequel after giving the actors the OK to say a sequel was coming. Know what I am saying?
DD = Daredevil. I think.DD? As in...Dungeons and Dragons? Um, it did get a sequel. Straight to Sci-Fi Channel, then DVD. It's budget was like 2-8 mil though. Effects looked ok for the budget.
I find it hard to believe that you find this hard to believe.
DD = Daredevil. I think.
They didn't promote this movie or anything. If they would have actually scoped out talent to make this damn thing, they would have had a product they could have been proud of to tie into at least a burger king toy promotion
Here in America we get one tv spot 2 weeks before movie comes out toys in walmart with no commercialThere werent any burger king toys over there? Here in Spain we got them in, they dont look fantastic but hey they're there.
Promotion has been pretty good, see the tv spots quite often.
I havent seen this movie though, nor do I plan to on any format, DVD, VHS, TV or PC lol.
