I am not a huge fan of Superman but Returns was a pretty good movie. I have had the pleasure to meet Superman's son, Tristan...aka Jason. His grandparents live here and they bring him by the bank that I work to show him off. His grandad has been keeping us up to date on news of the now previous movie and the two to come. The next one will be shot in Canada and all the cast are signed on for two more films...3 total. Jason will have a much larger role in the next movie according to the grandad. He is the cutest kid and a very talented actor. He also said that his grandson will was asked to tell what he wanted to do in the next movie. He said he wanted to fly I believe. I will continue to post here everytime I get updates for the movie. You can also post whatever news that comes out way so as to not have clutter and 20 different threads on one new piece of information.

Jason is the Jar Jar Binks of Superman. Not because he's annoying like Jar Jar but because few people like or care about Superman having a son. Like Jar Jar, his role will be limited in any sequel, regardless of what his family may say.

Well, it's time for another update. Tristan and his grandad came into my work today. Tristan is visiting his grandparents here for Christmas. We all got his autograph and he is a wonderful, cute, and funny kid in person. Anyways, I asked Tristan some questions about the upcoming movie. Although it is in pre-production, I can confirm Tristan will fly in the next movie. His grandad said they had built a harness and the stunt coordinator said it was the smallest harness he had ever seen. They had Tristan up over 25 feet in the air and his parents were on the ground scared to death. The grandad said Tristan looked down and waved saying "Hi mommy!" really excited. That is the latest news and the grandad comes in about once a month to give us an update. If and when I learn something new...I will continue to post here.

Thanks for the news Chaseter, although I must say that I'm not too happy with it. I'm not sure if a little kid Superboy would work very well in the movie but we'll see how it works out. Or if he'll get to fly for more than one scene.

i dont know what to think of this....

ummm...i'll take this with a grain of salt...

...and hope that it's not true.

I am not a huge Superman fan nor do I know any comic lore behind all of this. I think Jason...aka Tristan...will be sort of a qualm in the upcoming movies. You know for sure he will get captured by a bad guy and send Superman into a rescue rage. He is a great little actor and an even better little kid in person. Now that's ok if you trust me or not...I have been here since January and this is one of the few times I have ever posted in the SR forums. Everything I have said came from the grandad's mouth and Tristan's. Since Tristan is signed for 3 movies total...he will more than likely be in all three and have a more demanding screen presence each time. Now once I get word on any major spoiler from the grandad...like a bad guy or other casting news...I will report it in here for you Supes fans. I also may get news on filming locations in and abouts Canada since that is where it will be filmed next. If I had been a member of this forum last year...I could have even told you all that Singer was lying and that Jason was Superman's son. Have a Merry Christmas!

i know he'll be in the next movie, but i just hope he doesn't end up flying...

...if he does, he better not have the power of full flight. his character IS half HUMAN after all.

My thoughts on the kid: Including him was a horrible mistake, but he was the most entertaining part of the movie. He was the only real heart the movie had and the only character other than Richard with any substance.

If all that you (chaseter) say is true, well lets just say I'm not feeling it.

I'm not sure I believe chaseter, but time will tell. Thanks for the scoop.

Superkid, hell no kid needs to die. I don't care for superman having a kid
Batman having a kid is more believable

I don't even want to think about the possibility of Batman having a kid TE....

Man, that would terrible....

I am just telling you what came out of the grandad's mouth and Tristan's. He came into where I work Wednesday and I asked him in the next movie do you get to fly? He said yes very excited. The grandad then tells me that they built a small harness and have tested it. I guess to check the fluidity...if it doesn't look real, then my guess is that they wouldn't do it...he after all isn't a highly trained wire expert. My guess is that he will hover or maybe float a bit...much like that of an unexerpienced Clark in Smallville. If I would have known he was coming in, I would have brought my camera but the grandad just said he would come in some time during the holiday break. If you don't believe me, that's cool...I hardly ever believe anything that doesn't come from an official source. But I will continue to post in here each time I learn something new...hopefully after a script is written and Tristan has read it, the grandad might leack some spoilers for me to tell y'all.

ok why would they test the harnesss with tristan now if the movie comes out in 2009 ?
i would understand that they tested at the end of 2007 so that they can start filming in januar or februar 2008. but in 2006? come on this is unrealistic. they have now a big break until 2008.

belive me someone was lying to you.

THIS IS FANTASTIC NEWS. I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD NAME THIS MOVIE, "SON OF SUPERMAN", AND THEN THE THIRD ONE, "SUPERBOY REIGNS"

Then of course by then Superman should be effectively phased out of the series and then the next set of movies could just follow the adventures of Jason Lane ready to take on the world.

This is just great. Thanks Mr. Singer. All of this wouldn't have been possible except for your contribution.

I wonder how many years(in movie time) will pass between SR and Man of Steel. I'm guessing it will probably have to be around 3 only because Tristan would have grown somewhat by the time they start filming. This limits Singer and Co. in choosing where he wants to pick up the story. How many conversations between Superman, Lois, Jason and Richard will we have missed in the meantime? I only bring this up because in this time there should have been at least one significant conversation between Lois and Superman concerning Jason. Or maybe Superman won't even be in the picture for a little while? Plus, how long before Lois tells Richard that Jason is not his biological son? Because if we actually see Lois tell this to Richard in MOS, then that means she waited 2-3 years before she even told him.
