Serenity Day, June 23

If you want to see a Serenity sequel or the return of Firefly go to this site and join the movement.

www.fireflyfans.net. Under New Headlines at the top right corner there is a thread titled "Browncoat Army: Serenity Day, June 23rd". This has all of our current information, but most importantly about the website that will soon be up and running to coordinate everything.

It is for the organization of a Serenity Day on June 23. On this day we are planning to purchase as many copies of Sereinty as possible to prove to Universal that there is a fan base and that they can make money.

If you don't have a money to buy a copy of th BDM, we are also planning a letter warfare campaign aimed at Universal. Go over to the site.
We need fans more than money right now. Numbers help win any war.

One day.
One plan.
One army of Browncoats.

On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

Good movie, but I think fans need to realize it tanked... twice.

I dont know if I can afford to buy a second copy of the DVD, but i'll certainly send letters. I'd love to get Firefly back on the air, or even a second Serenity film.

Kickass. I'll get me and the only other friend of mine that likes Serenity enough to hang out at Target all day and act out a scene.

"Dude, let's get Star Wars."
"Are you serious? What about Serenity?"
"Holy crap I forgot about that one! That rocked!"
"I know, and it even has..."

And so on. Loud enough for half the store to hear.

Hilariously sad.

Whedon fans are so plucky. :)

I'm gonna stand around the DVD rack and tell people to avoid Serenity.

For all of you voicing your support, it's appreciated. We'll need all the help we can get to get things going. And REZ, all I can say is that you're awesome. Wish I could be there to see that.

And for those of you who didn't like the movie and don't like this idea, oh well. Just don't buy the movie. And when we get more, you don't have to go see that either. We can do this without you.

I liked the movie well enough, I just don't care about any film/book/porno enough to mobilize myself as a movie geek militant.

I think it would be worth our while to actively campaign against the movie anywhere we can. Just because it's funny.

I know. I've noticed this aswell. It's inspiring and a little creepy at the same time.

No? But it would be fun trying to hold back a slightly enjoyable, but largely mediocre film that has somehow built the most ridiculously delusional and overbearing fanbase in history.

And you don't thing that's at all unnecessairily cruel? If people want a sequel, why stop them? It's not like you have to go see it if you don't want to.

The same reason it bothers me that children are put into cheap labor camps in third world countries. It doesn't negatively affect me, it may even result in my shoes being cheaper, but it's just wrong.

That is the singe least apt analogy I've ever heard. Kids in labor camps hurts people. Namely the kids. Serenity doesn't hurt anybody.

The fanbase does.

But it's not just a film, it's a whole universe. Have you ever watched Firefly? The fact that you even considered the film mediocre makes me think that if you watched the show and got to know the characters, you'd probably enjoy it. That's exactly what happened to me. I saw it the first time, and while I didn't hate it, I just didn't care for it much. I didn't get a lot of the jokes that other people seemed to really laugh at, and some of the character's deaths didn't really mean crap to me. After watching these characters for 15 episodes though, then going back to the film, it was so much more entertaining.

So it's not just a mediocre film that grew a huge fanbase, that fanbase was there even before the film was announced.

It's a mediocre show/movie that has a ridiculously dedicated fanbase. Whedon writes awful dialogue. It's cheeky, forced, and utterly overdone. It's for teenagers that have read nothing but comic books.

I just have a natural distaste for copious amounts of effort.
