Calvin defines himself by iconoclasm?

How very reactive of him.

Firefly was the best damn sci-fi show I've seen, and my favorite of Whedon's work.

The movie was amazing and gave me closure that the end of the show couldn't give us because it ended too soon.

In other words...

Would I love to see a sequal/continuation of the story?

Hell yeah!

Is it the end of the world for me if it doesn't happen?

No, because the movie gave me closure.

I think we deserve a sequal though.

After all; if garbage like "Duce Bigalow" and "Big Mama" can get even more horrific sequals made for them, then I don't see why a great movie like "Serenity" can't have one.

Exactly. Did Duce Bigalow or Big Mama actually make much money?

I don't think so, they both looked beyond lame to me. I don't see why anyone would find them appealing to begin with.

I loved both the show and the movie...but it bombed. Time to move on.

Well, like I said, the movie has finally made Universal a profit via the DVD sales. Meaning, they may now consider ut for a sequel. Statistically speaking, sequels make more than the origional movie.

Im a huge Firefly/Serenity fan. But its time to move on guys.

I still hold out hope that we'll see more from the 'verse. But yeah, buying a **** load of DVDs is excessive.

Serenity is more deserving of a sequel than half of the movies that have got one the last ten years.

The real reason I want more Firefly/Serenity, other than the fact that I just plain enjoy it, is that there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Sure, the big ones are answered, like what was up with River, but there are still some mysteries.

What was Shepherd Book's deal? there's no doubt that something was up with him. He knew too much, was an excellent shot, and somehow got immediate medical attention at an Alliance hospital after they scanned his ID card. Even if you just assume he was a former Alliance officer, i'd like to see it dealt with more in depth.

Also, there was a scene in the very first episode (chronologically, not the first aired) where they're flying near Reavers and Inara pulls out a small box containing a syringe. Now, most would assume it's a suicide kit, since no one wants to die by Reavers. However, if you listen to the DVD commentary, Joss Whedon states that it's actually something else, which he would've revealed later in the series. Of course, you could just ignore it and think of it as a suicide kit, and it makes perfect sense, but knowing that it could've been something else just makes me want to know what. It could've provided an interesting storyline. I can't even think what else it could've been though. Something in a syringe that she would feel the need to open and look at when faced with a horiffic death, suicide kit is the only thing I can think of. Perhaps she's a druggie, and wanted one last fix so she'd be high as a kite while she was raped to death. Who knows.

But the good news (i guess) is that even if we never see live-action Firefly/Serenity again, there's always the possibility of comics. There are already 3 comic books, which take place between the final episode of the series and the film (they deal with the fate of the blue hand guys). If Whedon gives up on getting another film/series, he will most likely end up putting out comics. Sure, i'd MUCH prefer live action (the cast is just so darn lovable) but at least with comcs our unanswered questions will get answered.

EDIT: Apparently, Serenity is one of the HD-DVD launch titles, which just launched yesterday. This actually gives me a reason to buy Serenity on June 23rd. If I have an HD-DVD player by then (I actually plan to support Blu-Ray, but who knows, I might get HD-DVD too) then i'll certainly buy it on the 23rd. Then I wont feel like i'm wasting my money, or have to explain why I have two copies of the same movie.
