How's Brooklyn doing?

Still got power, so everyone I know is doing pretty well, aside from my Dad, who's stuck at work.

It's ironic how so many people were dismissing this storm and what kind of effect it could have just based on what happened with Irene last year.

I actually saw a picture earlier today comparing the radar for both hurricanes and this one was significantly bigger.

Size doesn't matter, what really lead to this being this bad is that Florida, the Carolinas and all the other southern East Coast states really dropped the ball on taking the brunt of the storm like they usually do.

You guys just need to man up. This is Tuesday for us over here during Hurricane season.

I live in northern NJ, and we had catastrophic flooding after Irene last year, which included no power for nearly two weeks. We didn't mess around with this. I cleared out my garage on Saturday, and I headed to my parents house last night, where I still am now. I've been checking updates from my town from Twitter, and it looks like the power is out and there are a lot of down power lines, but we may have escaped the flooding this time.

Sandy was a BIG one. Im surprised anyone could look at it and dismiss it regardless of Irene.

I think a lot of people were still upset about what kind of inconvenience was caused by all of the safety precautions. The damage was no where near what was predicted, so people felt like this was just another case of being overly cautious.

I find it kinda dumb how a lot of people I knew were saying over the weekend that the hurricane was just some kind of conspiracy that the government was trying to hype up to boost up the economy. But after seeing some of the damage, I think its hard to say that this was any help to it.

I didn't think the storm would get that bad here in Ohio, but it did. I thought the trees in my yard were going to get blown over.

There's been about 14 inches of snow here, and they are calling for another 1 to 2 feet through Wednesday. The winds are going at about 30MPH, and creating some awesome looking, yet scary at the same time, white-out conditions.

I live in NOVA. Some towns around me are without power, but aside from power flickering some last night, I'm good. We've got a few trees down which is causing some frustration (I live in the "Old Town" portion of my city), so big, old trees blocking small, one lane roads is no bueno, but that seems to be the worst of it for me.

I'm alive, as are all of my people. Word is that about 15 or so NYers died last night, which is kind of amazing given the population density. Now we just wait for them to fix the subway.
