The book could be the first one in a film series (not TV series). Shadowmancer was said to be "hotter than Potter" when it first came out. And with its two sequels Wormwood and Tersias, we could have a good trilogy at our hands. The best thing about the books is that they haven't got the same characters, and that means no child actor that can grow too old in just a couple of years.
One problem is that they may be too dark. Not Harry Potter dark, but really dark dark. Too much for the audience? Do the live action adaptions need to be lighter, and somewhat dumb down the plot?
*Fortitude Film have the rights both to this one, and the second book.
*Universal Pictures were backing up the project.
*Mel Gibson was wanted as director, at first. Probably just after the rights were sold in 2004.
*Is to be shot in Yorkshire.
*Jacob Crane may be played by Sean Bean.
*Local talents to play the kids, and some other roles as well.
*Donald Sutherland was a suggestion to play Demurral.
I just wonder what will happen now that Gibson is out of the project. They can't possibly want him anymore, can they?
Well, if Ken Loach has the guts to try dark fantasy, this may be the story for him. It's a lot about the working class, and the poverty, in UK some 100-150 years ago.
