What I want to know is: Will Fin Fang Foom appear in the film?

Fin has been a favorite of mine since I first laid eyes on his crazy tail decades ago. Mandarin needs Fin and his starship to obtain the scientific/mystical technology that powers his ten rings. The writers could use another means to power the rings or leave them as mere symbols, but that's no fun. Give us a big-ass alien dragon like the comics. (Just don't make him a chef in a Chinese restaurant. )

Yes to Fin Fang Foom. He could easily appear in Shang Chi.

Don't make him Finn Jones though. We've had F'in enough of him!

Which is, of course, a completely different scenario from a solo movie. Black Widow is fine in Infinity War, despite there being a couple Hulk+ foes against which she is completely ineffective. This is because there is plenty else for her to do, and plenty of other heroes to deal with them.

Fin Fang Foom in Shang-Chi would be more analogous to having the Abomination appear in the Black Widow solo movie.

I didn't respond to anything about a solo movie. The post I responded to said Shang-Chi shouldn't be in the next Avengers movie because he'd be helpless.

Oh, well yes, that is nonsense. Assuming a decent adaptation, he'd bring both spy skills and superhuman kung fu. That would be plenty to contribute. Sure, he wouldn't be a heavy hitter, but the Avengers don't only need heavy hitters.
