I'm grilling up some steaks tonight and I'm looking to do something a little more fun then just throwing some Montreal steak spice on them. Does anyone have any great marinades they use? Home made or bought? How do you usually make and like your steaks cooked?

A1 has some excellent marinades. The New York and Chicago Steak House flavorings are superb!

olive oil
chopped garlic
salt
pepper
red wine vinegar

Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Oregano
Basil Vinaigrette
Parsley
Soy Sauce

Then I cook it in Olive Oil and A1 Sauce with chopped Mushrooms.

Garlic
Onion
Basil
Parsley
Oregano
Lemon juice
Olive Oil, or sometimes, [and I know this is a big faux pas royale with cheese] Hickory BBQ Sauce

Let it marinate overnight, toss them on the grill the next day, or if it's too cold or icky for that, do it inside, and cook them with the marinade.

I soak it overnight in some George Dickel whiskey

I ended up doing a simplier variation of this. I decided I didn't want too much stuff on it becuase it turned out my dad bought NY striploins and I didn't want to take away from the steak's flavour. So i did a rub with lemon juice, seasoned salt, pepper, and chopped garlic. Smells awesome right now :)

I like to cook mine in baby oil.

Babies are delicious.

olive oil
coarse ground (or cracked) pepper

3-4 min a side (to a good medium rare)
let sit for 5 mins

and I always, ALWAYS let my steak get to room temp before I cook it.

Pull its horns out and wipe its arse. Done.

Best thing to do is a salt, pepper, butter, and throw it on the grill. As long as you are grilling a good cut, it should come out perfect.

By the way, I prefer mine medium rare... occasionally rare. People who cook their steaks well done really "wtf mate" me.

agreed, I know a guy who would have his steaks cooked to the point of being almost burnt. Then would drown it in hp sauce cause it was too dry.

Ha! I just had a steak tonight. All I did was season it with some salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper. Then I broiled it.

I really ought to try marinating it one day. Then, you know, cooking it the day after.

Yes you should, the taste is incredible. I'd say it explodes in your mouth but even I would make fun of that comment.
