dude anybody can say that <so and so actor> is "in talks" to play Captain Marvel. IMDB is the last place we should look at when it comes to getting any sort of leads for casting.

Something tells me though that they're going to go with either Adam Sandler or Jack Black as Billy Batson and make it into a comedy, which I hope won't be the case.

They said they had given some thought about doing it as a comedy but ultimately decided to go for a more serious movie. That's not to say it won't be ripe with comedy moments, mind you.

I was searching for some info on Brandon Molale and ran across his website (brandonmolale.com) which has a link to a fan made petition that he endorses for him to be the Big Red Cheese for the film. I didn't see that this was posted here yet, if it has been sorry! I find it interesting that he actually (like the Rock) is showing serious interest in playing the Cap. I haven't made up my mind whom I would like for the part (assuming it is only between these 2 when push comes to shove) but I must say....Brandon definately has the look eerily down pat. BUT I can see the Rock bringing some great character moments to the charachter as well. IF the Rock is cast (which for some reason seems likely...) it does bring up, like it or not, the whole "race" thing. Can Captain Marvel be anything but a big White guy. I brought up the casting to my wife (whom is NOT a comic fan...she tolerates my fanboy ways.and picks up some stuff from me by osmosis...bless her) and her original reaction to the idea of the Rock was.."he isn't captain marvel..that other guy you showed me looks like him". As she was speaking she came to the point of, "you know what though, you could still have a great captain marvel movie with the Rock. and it would be nice to see a superhero who isn't white, not just for the movie itself but for all the kids out there as well." Which, though I may not be sold on the Rock....I want to see the Cap walk off the page onto the screen, is a really good point. Let's face it, there are many fanboys out there, but the general knowledge of the Marvel family is limited to none. You would have freedom with the representation of the characters without betraying their essence, or the publics common knowlege of said charachters(lets face it..like it or not..you couldn't cast the Rock for Superman..you just couldn't)

No, man. That's not what he's saying. What he means is that anyone has the ability to edit IMDB, so you cant trust them for information. If I wanted to I could go on IMDB and post that Dakota Fanning is in talks to play Captain Marvel. Doesn't make it true, at all.
