Shazam!!!

i think we need a manip of Brendan Fraser as Captain Marvel and The Rock as Black Adam, put 'em together and see how the match-up will turn out visually.

Perfect IMO. While I think The Rock could make a great Captain Marvel - he screams Black Adam in a way Patrick Warburton screams Captain Marvel. Sadly The 'Burton may be too old. If they plan on doing a single film - then The 'Burton is the only possible choice. If they want to make a franchise - you need someone younger.

I am a Brendan Fraser fan, I think he could nail the character

I admire your optimism about The Rock, but come on. Why would a white kid imagine himself into a Hawaiian (or whatever the Rock is)? They ain't going to change Billy's race. That'd take huge balls!

Only adult bigots, evil doers and super villains think as you do. :whatever:

...Why not have him imagine himself as a giant monster with a homosexual sidekick?

Besides, Billy either turns into an older himself or his dad when he says Shazam.

I'd don't care if The Rock is Cap or Black Adam (Which I would prefer more, btw), he'd still get my ass in the seat.

Dude, Billy is a white kid.
if he turns into his dad he'd turn into a white man.
if he turns into an older himself then he'd still be white.

Race shouldn't be an issue, and definitely isn't an issue for Captain Marvel.
How many people on this planet even like Captain Marvel, let alone know who he is? They've maybe seen him once in front of a Supes comic, but that's about it.

Who cares if The Rock is black/samoan, it's nothing drastic like if it were Bats.
MCD as the Kingpin worked great, and most of the general audience couldn't give two shyits if he was white or not.

Exactly!

People would know Cap from JLU.

Also, Daredevil sucked anyway.

And what your saying is race doesn't matter because Cap is a lesser known character, if people go see this movie then they'll probably pick up some Cap back issues and then people will be like WTF! This isn't the Rock! Black Adam is the Rock.

Appearing in one little episode of JLU did not make Big Red an over night sensation.

Well he is also being hyped up in comics or atleast the Marvel Family, hell Countdown is supposed to be the Booster Gold of Countdowns 52.

You meant to say Mary Marvel is the Booster Gold of Countdown, right?
Remember what happened the last time they changed the race of a superhero? We got Catwoman, the greatest superhero film ever made. It's a shame we'll never get a sequel.
While we're at it, lets cast Rip Taylor as the Wizard Shazam, Nicolas Cage as Doctor Sivana, and Ben Stiller as Freddie Freeman and we can use the Lincoln Memorial as the Rock of Eternity. Let's just make the whole thing a comedy while we're at it. It'll be as great as the Jack Black version of Green Lantern.
It's gonna be a masterpiece.

No, what you just said just what people who have no real argument say in a situation like this. Simply talking about matters of race doesn't make you a "bigot" or an "evil doer."

Race DOES exist you know, and as that poster was trying to say before he was so rudely attacked and his "racial prejudice" was implied was that it would make no sense to have a white kid transform into Samoan Super Hero. Plus there's absolutely no reason to mess with the character's race there are plenty of white male actors who could affectively play this role.

How about this: I propose we cast Angelina Jolie in the role of Captain Adam and have Billy turn into a female! Don't dare try to argue with me on this or you'll forever be labeled as a sexist!

This is getting waaaaay off topic.

Please, stop the flames. Billy, you might just want to leave race and stuff out of it. Trust me, its only making things worse.

So, shall we be constructive?

Not if you dont cast a white kid as Billy...

Don't worry I didn't take offense to your statement. I am black by the way.

But I hope the movie would mean more marketing tie-ins to the comics hence you want at least to have that resemblance to the character. Most people accepted Duncan in DD because he was the best man for the job and just happened to be black. You can mine Hollyweird for a white guy before thinking about changing his race. Rock would be Black Adam in my movie.:yay:

Daredevil sucking makes no relevance to how MCD's portrayal of The Kingpin.

Very petty comment. That has no relevance towards how the movie is going to be in terms of quality. Catwoman sucking is based solely on WB, what they saw in the (very terrible) director, and the awful plot. It shouldn't have been a new Catwoman. It should've been Selina Kyle in Gotham, but it wasn't, and Halle Berry's race had nothing to do with it.

True, I see what you are saying, but this argument (or at least what I am understanding) is IF The Rock was already cast as Captain Marvel. I'd much rather prefer him as Black Adam, but had he been cast, "plenty of white actors" or the Angelina Jolie bit has no relevance in this argument.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

All in all, I'm just trying to get a point across that if The Rock had been cast as Big Red, it's no big deal. Who gives a f***, really? It's Captain Marvel. I'd prefer him as Black Adam, and Brendan Fraser sounds amazing as Captain Marvel (I hope that it could be possible), but like I said before, race isn't a big deal here. Captain Marvel is no Supes, Spider-Man, or Bats. (Definitely in terms of popularity, until the movie comes out and possibly becomes a box office smash)

Well, the Rock isn't so dark skinned. Ans if they turned Jessica Alba into a Caucasian, blonde and blue-eyed Sue Storm, they can turn Dwayne into a light skinned Captain Marvel.
