yea he has been growing as an actor. Though last few films he been doing those silly comedy movies/family movies. He needs to break out of that and do do another action/drama film. He isnt the best out there but he isnt that bad.

Since when does the Rock have range. Range is not what Rock has. The Rock has a niche, and in that wheelhouse he is great. But the wheelhouse complements Captain Marvel. He would be absolutely god awful as Black Adam.

All the potential he showed as "nice guy protagonist in random action role" from Walking Tall and The Rundown has gone right out the window with forced, badly timed and executed performances, which is why he is still known as The Rock and not Dwayne Johnson.

Everything he said was forced in Gridiron Gang, and he chewed the scenery in Get Smart. Even so, most of these roles are almost exactly the same, and have almost nothing to do with Black Adam. That is not sign of range, it is the sign of niche. The Rock is physically intimidating, but he doesnt have the talent to depict it in ways Black Adam does through his speech and actions. You need someone with much more charisma and grace than The Rock. The casting of The Rock is almost completely based on his appearance, same as Molale as Captain Marvel.

He is only imposing physically. When he tries to be a tough guy he comes off cheesy and cliched. And he isnt that good of an actor. People just keep saying "Hes a good actor" with no backing but he isnt. Hes capable, but not good, and nowhere near where he needs to be for Black Adam. Hes made easily enjoyable popcorn fair and its clouding peoples judgement it seems. Scoprion King is his mulligan, Gridiron Gang was way to awkward. He fumbled his way through the dialog no pun intended. Get Smart was awful in general but he fit the tone and he might have been better in Southland Tales if Kelly knew what he wanted instead of the cinematic collage he ended up with. Rundown and Walking Tall he showed promise as a great moralistic protagonist, but unfortunately the rest of his career has been nothing but low points. Shazam needs him, but as Captain Marvel.

They where probably more than likely not allowed to use the character because of a potential movie in the works..

Captain Marvel is suppose to be a kid's fantasy and how it is to become an adult superhero with amazing powers and chiseled looks. this is the rare time when I don't mind a muscle head playing Marvel.

If a 12 kid turns into an 18-20 year old kid, that's not what Shazzam should be all about.

I see that you have age issues, nothing more than numbers my friend, the question is the LOOK of said 18-20 year old. I feel 18-20' ish year old Mr. Taylor Lautner would pull the "adult superhero with amazing powers and chiseled looks" off nicely.
He's "Hollywood muscle bound" (NO PADS needed for his SUPER SUIT) and he's bankable at the box office.
