Lies!! Goddamn lies!!

....

Sorry for the outburst. I get that way when my emotions are toyed with.

The offer for my soul is still on the table. Where the hell is Shang Tsung when you need to give up a soul to make things happen?

I'm ready to do some Three Stooges type celebrations if this goes through.

Some people have speculated that maybe it's for some Ryo DLC for Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, which is entirely possible, but it seems a little late for that. I'm not saying it's Shenmue III, but it seems strange to tease a minor piece of DLC for E3.

Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki will be holding a post-mortem on the game at the 2014 Game Developers Conference, Gamasutra reports. Suzuki’s talk will be translated by Mark Cerny, lead system architect for the PlayStation 4.

Suzuki will begin the talk by discussing the origins of Shemue as an RPG based on the Virtua Fighter series, originally in development for the Sega Saturn. He will go on to reveal how the game ended up in its final form on the Sega Dreamcast in 1999.

The session will be an hour long in length. GDC 2014 will take place in San Francisco, California from March 17th –21st, 2014.

So basically he's twisting the knife.

Maybe he will announce a new game, but for the PS4. Probably at the end of the "post-mortem" speech. I mean there's a Playstation rep there, so...

Shenmue III Trademark Filed By Sega In Europe. November 27, 2013 . 12:39pm

Sega filed a trademark for Shenmue III – yes Shenmue III – in Europe. The trademark was registered on November 25 by Sega Japan.

That probably means Sega is working on Shenmue III. Sega isn’t like Namco Bandai who registers dozens of trademarks everyday. The last trademark Sega registered was for Sonic Lost World which was filed in May. The same attorneys, R.G.C. Jenkins & Co, handled both trademarks. Side by side comparison below:

not to be pessimistic but this doesn't necessarily mean anything. I believe a trademark is valid for 10 years after which, if the property isn't used, then its lost. Shenmue was last released in 2003 in Europe, so this could just be Sega maintaining it so they can hold onto that name

I'm just putting up the news that they put up. I usually don't say anything on it cause I take the wait and see approach . of which I never made a comment on it as well. just putting it up. til we hear more on what really going down, it's just there.

I wasn't saying you were. I was just commenting on what I read and took out of that article

oh I see. Sorry then . Ether way this can go ether way. it's ether he got the rights back or he's doing what kenji infune did with making spiritual successor to mega man or he some how convinced sega to finish the series. or he just doing it as remembrance to the series and he's saying it's still dead.

Until GDC happens this is up in the air on where it's headed.

well accordin to this

Yu Suzuki 'researching,' but not committed to Shenmue 3 Kickstarter

Famed producer Yu Suzuki might turn to Kickstarter to fund Shenmue 3, though the emphasis here is on the word "might."

According to a Eurogamer interview, Suzuki is "researching" the idea of aShenmue 3 Kickstarter. The designer refuses to commit to anything, but did state that he would like to work on the long-awaited sequel given the "right opportunity." As Eurogamer points out, the first two Shenmue games cost Sega over $70 million to develop, though Suzuki wouldn't specify how much money he'd need to raise to fund a third game in the series.

Though this news may set fans' hearts racing with even the slightest glimmer of hope that Shenmue 3 is in the works, we caution you not to hold your collective breath. This is not the first time Suzuki has mentioned interest in crowdfunding, and even if Suzuki does opt to go the Kickstarter route, it will likely be a while before he gets around to it. Though he wouldn't divulge details, Suzuki is currently occupied with a different, non-Shenmuedevelopment project.

Well he is researching just have him speak with Keiji Inafune and it might speed things up in his researching.

The game has a cult following, I loved the story and the combat of the first game. Never got to play the second one, there is a video game store across town that sells old school games and they had Shenmue 2 there for like 50 bux. I might have to pick it up. I'm with Pat though, I'd totally donate to kickstarter to see Shenmue 3 happen

Too bad it's not like movies where you have to produce or lose rights.

Was this the first series to use quick time events (QTE)?

Yes. It was the first to do a lot of things. I never got around to playing the second one. That was just for the original xbox, right?

In America, yes, it was only released on Xbox.

がらくたビスケット ! :cmad:

I mean, I should have got it when I had the chance. :csad:
