Not necessarily in Spider-Man 4, but maybe in 5 or 6... for the last 3 movies, any time Peter Parker has had to go through a rough patch, Aunt May has been there to put him back on track. Nothing against Aunt May - she does what she does really well. But it'd be nice to see Peter Parker work things out entirely on his own for a change. I know there's other ways to do that without killing off Aunt May, but you got to admit - it'd be an interesting, dramatic part of the story.

Hm... maybe. I wouldn't want it to be a tragic or violent death. I'd want it to be a nice, peaceful, Yoda-style death.

^ Yeah, I wouldn't want her getting killed by a villain or anything like that. In the comics, she's had like a bazillion heart attacks. Something more along the lines of natural causes would be the better way to go.

i'll go with a, no
her getting sick and going to hospital, sure
rack up some big bills that peter needs to pay off, and make it part of the plot, ok
But, no dieing IMO

I've always thought she should die eventually. I mean, she's old. But it should be a quiet, sweet, dignified death, in her bed, with Peter there beside her. She reveals that she knows he's Spider-Man, and tells him how proud of him she is. It's the kind of death she deserves.

Oh, and something that fits in with the theme of whichever movie it is, in the sense that what she tells him (one last piece of wisdom) somehow relates to the central conflict. It would either be at the end of the movie, or immediately prior to the final battle, in which case what she says would somehow help him to win both his internal and external battles.

Except it'd be better written and less cliched than that.

Most definitely. Don’t get me wrong, I love the old broad, especially what Rosemary Harris has brought to the character, but its time to shake up Pete’s life in a major way. She has been his rock for three movies now, what does he do without her to guide him? The next (or maybe next after next) step in Peter’s growth is self-reliance. Having the confidence in oneself to make the necessary decisions.
I don’t think that death is a must in drama, but after re-reading Marvels, I realized what kind of an impact Gwen Stacy’s death made on not just that story, but Spidey’s whole mythos. Flying in the face of nay-sayers and purists, I’ve recently had an idea for a saga spotlighting Venom tormenting the Stacys for Gwen’s “rejection” of Eddie. But we’ll save that for another thread…

if she does die let peter tell her he's spider-man, or she tells him that she has always known or something.

I think if Aunt May does die then it should be like she did in the Comics. I also think she should tell Peter that She has always known He was Spider-man like Someone said. And ThatDamnNinja, I love your idea of Her saying how proud she is of Peter of being Spider-man.

Not in SM4....maybe in the 5th or 6th one

Agreed. I've thought of some good ways in which Aunt May's death could tie in nicely with an Electro/Vulture storyline, but they're not fully developed at this point and I don't feel like typing them out right now.

Yeah, I agree with that.

I really hope they do do an adaption of her death in ASM #400, actually.

It was a beautiful way to close the book on her character. While it ended up not being permanent in the comics, having it happen in the movies would be a way to give the story back the meaning that it lost in the books...not to mention, it also would be an important life development for Peter to tackle, as he finally has to say goodbye to his last parental figure.

Besides that, just imagine how powerful the scene on her deathbed could be, or the scene where she finally asks Peter what it's like to swing among the rooftops. Rosemary Harris has done a terrific acting job in these movies; an adaption of her death in #400 would be an amazing swan song.
