Norman knew. Otto knew. Harry knew. MJ knows. Eddie knew/knows (hopefully). Isn’t it about time May finds out what her nephew is doing on the side?
In both SM2 and 3, she gave sage-like advice that seemed to suggest she knows, but I want to see the scene on the big screen. Peter, after a big battle comes in, drops his mask in the living room, staggers to the bedroom and passes out with his suit on. Who should come in to tidy up but kindly old Aunt May? After picking up the mask, we tighten on her face for a look that breaks our hearts.
Who else wants to see this?
What does this mean for our characters?

Yes! Please let her know. It seems as though she must know something is up by this point with all the advice. I'd love to see her tidy up, look at the costume, and zoom up...but not show a look of surprize of any sort, but a nice, secretive smile...

A scene in Spiderman 5:

Parker: (Sitting beside Aunt May's death bed): Aunt May... before you die... there is something you need to know...

Aunt May: Oh Peter... you don't have to tell me (winks).... I know.... (dies)

Peter: AUNT MAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

I like the idea that before she finds out, she loathes and fears Spider-man. After she finds out, she makes scrapbooks, tapes his TV appearences and writes letters to the Bugle telling J.J.J. how wrong he is. I'd like to see Jameson telling Peter, "I got a letter from your aunt, she really seems to love this wall-crawling wacko!"

Does she fear and loathe the character? In the the movies I mean.

In any case, I've always gotten the idea she already knows. But I would like to see it come out in the open. If anyone deserves to know, it's her.

she already knows and just hasnt said anything

i think the really qestion is should we find out, how long shes known, and should she tell him

i think it should be something like this:
on the phone

pete: aunt may, i gotta go, uhh im gonna go met mj..
may:peter, no need for excuses, i know where your going... spiderman( in a saracastic kind of tone)
pete: what? how long have you known?
aunt may: who do you think did your laundry and put it on your bed? Casper?

Eh. I don't think she would just bring it up. I think she respects his privacy, and doesn't think there'd be any need to confront him about him. It would definately be either him bringing it up or it coming out in the open by accident.

It's pretty clear she figured it out in SM2. At the beginning she disliked the man by the end is singing his praises and gives sage like advice to Peter that basically meant "KEEP BEING SPIDER-MAN, BOY!"

Besides her portrayal would make the ASM #400 work better and be more poignant. I liked JMS' version but #400 should have been it, though.

I would really enjoy a scene in a future movie where Aunt May finds out. There have been some hints, like the hero speech in SM2, that may suggest she knows Peter is Spider-Man. Speaking of SM2, it also looks like Robbie knows a little something...

It's pretty obvious from her "everbody loves a hero" speech, that she already knows.

I LIKE IT!:yay:

I picked that up too, but I didn't know what to make of it. Could there have been some deleted scene(s) that cause Robbie to suspect this? All we've seen of him is in the Bugle, and he rarely interacts with Peter....

I'd love to see that scene played out between Tobey and Rosemary on the big screen.

I have no doubt they would both knock it out of the ballpark! :word:

Robbie certainly let on that he suspects something.

If there was any doubt in SM-2 that she knows, it was definitely cleared up in 3.

"Oh my goodness! Sandman is dead?! What happened?"

"Well, um...I kill--I mean, *Spider-man* killed him."

"Oh I see...well I don't approve of what you--I mean, *Spider-man*, did, *Spider-man* doesn't kill people Pete--I mean *Spid*-, I mean, er...****."

Good point.

Agreed. Im 90% certain Aunt May knows, and I'm fairly sure Robbie knows as well.

I like that. Kinda pays homage to the scene in 1 where she says he isnt Superman in its own little way. I'd personally rather see Aunt May clear up her suspicions when she sees Spidey (in the heat of battle) remove his mask for whatever reason.

She most likely already knows.

A scene from my Spider-Man 4 script. Notes, Aunt May is critically ill and could be dying due to Peter giving May his blood in a blood transfusion (similar scenario to the classic comics):

INT. HOSPITAL- MAY’S ROOM

Peter slowly enters May’s hospital room, not knowing what to say. Peter looks at his aunt, fast asleep… tears well up in his eyes. He gulps as he continues to approach her. He brings a chair over next to her bedside and looks at her. Peaceful.

May slowly opens her eyes…

MAY
Peter?

PETER
I’m here Aunt May.

MAY
(pleased)
Peter.

May turns her head to see her nephew.

PETER
I’m sorry I didn’t…

MAY
It’s okay…

Peter looks around the hospital room and closes his eyes, lowering his head.

PETER
It’s all my fault…

May takes Peter by the hand.

MAY
There was nothing you could do…

Peter looks at Aunt May- she doesn’t understand!

PETER
Yes. There was. I could have done something, anything…

MAY
You can’t save everyone Peter. No one can.
(beat)
Not even as Spider-Man.

Peter looks at her taken aback…

MAY
I know…

Peter looks around, taking it in…

PETER
How long?

MAY
For a while now… but, I’ve always had my suspicions…

PETER
The day that you were moving… Henry Jackson… and…

May nods.

MAY
Yes Peter, I knew.

Peter sighs as he nods his head. It all makes sense now.

PETER
Why didn’t you tell me?

MAY
I didn’t want to trouble you… I knew you’ve been keeping it a secret for a reason… and I was waiting for when you were ready to tell me on your own terms, not on mine.

Peter nods, understanding.

MAY (CONT’D)
And you should tell Mary Jane.

PETER
She knows…

MAY
Oh.

May looks at him, curiously.

MAY
Then what’s going on with you two?

PETER
Don’t worry about it.

May grasps Peter’s hand firmer.

MAY
No one can live a life alone. You need Mary Jane as much as she needs you.

Peter sighs. He glances around making sure no one is listening.

PETER
My life… it’s too dangerous. As long as I’m Spider-Man, we can never be…

MAY
Shouldn’t that be up to Mary Jane to decide?

Peter sighs…

lol yeah, i was actually gonna write superman but figured not to cuz that was already used

I think it's better if we know that she knows but she never explicitly reveals to Peter that she knows. Dramatically speaking, more effective and entertaining. I don't see a reveal happening while the franchise is in Raimi's hands.
