Alright, I know he left the show. But, his new show wasn't picked up. So do you think the producers should offer him some buck to come back for even 1/2 the season?

As long as we see him in a couple of episodes before the shows finale I'm good.

I would love for michael to return but we know when he left he said he really only wants to return for a few episodes at the end of smallville's run. I hope he is willing to come back, and easiest way to bring lex back is to say the lex in the truck that was blown up was just a clone since we have had clones running around for a long while now.

I think they'd have to pay him WAY too much money to have him shave his head again, so unless they pony up some major cash or figure out a way to use him without getting his head shaved, we won't be seeing him.

I have this bad feeling that Smallville will just have him start wearing crazy wigs and have an underground lair so he could plot Clark's demise and real estate ventures...

Well they could easily just say he is trying to disguise himself if they go with the lex that blew up was a clone to stay hidden longer, or he could try wearing a bald cap and see how that goes. There is tons of ways they can go around with michael having hair.

Frankly, I was getting bored of the character, he was becoming so one dimensional and I think Michael's acting was really becoming one dimensional as well.

So, I wouldn't want to see any of their precious budget go towards a character who no longer holds any interest, for me.

I like Michael and when he had a good episode he was very good, but I think his major problem was that he was bored with the character and (unfortunately) it showed.

Yea some people do get sick of playing the same character the same way for many years. Its always good to add new dimensions to characters so they dont become stall.

I can't blame him. Honestly, Lex should have become evil 1 or 2 years earlier than he did. Instead of that, we had the typical "He will become, but not yet, it's too early, it's the superman area and smallville is before, even after years of progression to the dark side" One day he is evil, the day after we saw the good Lex from season one.

So the character is artificially bloqued in his progression and it damage the character itself which become dull.

It's the same problem with Clark, he is basically Superman, but without the costume and the glasses.

The show is a little better now because the phenomenon is better handled by the new team (It's far, far from perfect, but at least we have a character progression), but this was the great plague of the Gough and Millar years.

I think the show simply ran out of good ideas for Michael/Lex - same as with Kristin/Lana. Had there been good storylines for them, perhaps there would have been more interest on their parts to stay. Also, it's clear that the show has moved on, which isn't an unreasonable thing after 8 years, and using fresh stories with fresh characters was necessary and inevitable.

Clark is the only character who absolutely needs to be the central presence in each episode of this show, regardless of how long it continues.

I would dearly love to see both Lex and Lana make cameos in the final episode of the series.

As for Lex/Lana: Yeah, their stories had run their course, sadly.

I would love throughout the final season (as long as MR is secured) offhand remarks to be dropped by Tess and Oliver about buyouts/mergers etc from Queen/Luthor Industries and by the last episode Lex is revealed as having created LexCorp (much like Bruce Wayne took control of Wayne industries in BB).

It would be great to see an exchange between Clark (as Superman) and Lex like in Superman TAS or Lois and Clark where he is flying outside of Lex's office window. A great way to bookend the series from their first meeting in the pilot. This time though having the gauntlet laid down between them (leave Lex knowing the secret) as enemies.

Here is a quick idea of what I'd like to see (excuse the cheesy dialog)---

-------------------------------------------
Lex Catches a glimpse of movement as he is sitting at as his desk. He turns in his chair to see Clark floating outside his window in full Superman costume. Lex rises and approaches the window as it opens.

Lex: I was wondering when you would drop in...it's been a long time Clar--Superman is it?

Superman: Don't think you can intimidate me because you know my secret. Make no mistake I will not allow Lexcorp to pickup where Luthorcorp left off in 33.1.

Lex: 33.1? I had hoped now that there are no secrets between us we could work together for the good of Metropolis--and the world. But I see you under estimate me as always. The people of this city need someone to guide them. Someone who has faced the fires of Hell and come out unscathed. They need a leader and I intend to be just that.

Superman: No what they need is to be shown that within each and everyone of them is the capacity for good and the ability to accomplish great things. Listen to me closely Lex--I am not the same kid you hit with your Porsche. I also don't plan on running and hiding out in a barn afraid of the truth. I will not rest and I will not stop until your twisted evil is exposed to the world.
Clark turns and flies off into the night sky.

Lex: Then so be it---Clark.

You're right. But the writers never seems to have an idea of what to do with Lana, excepts for her being the girl Clark only could touch in dream, the girlfriend he could never have. She was badly written since the beginning and the more the show progressed, the most her character was butchered.

She should have never returned in season 8. Her exit in season 7 was perfect for me. She realized that Clark could never become what he could be (Superman) with her and decided to leave him and disappear. It's so much faithfull to the comic spirit that what they did after her "return".

Her arc in season 8 was terrible and unnececessary. It only damaged a good season 8.

Being said, I would love to see Michael Rosenbaum return in the 3 or 4 final episodes of the series to fix the future Lex. But yes, it's time for new characters.

It wasn't a route I wanted them to take with her, but I certainly didn't consider it terrible or unnecessary.

If Lex ever returned I wanted to see him act like the lex in Lex Luthor:Man of Steel, Superman:Red Son and some seasons of Smallville where he is Xenophobic and believes that Superman and the Justice League are threats to humanity and tries to protect the world whatever the cost including creating villians to take down Superman like Metallo.
Mabye he should recreate Lexcorp and buyout small companies like Cadmus Labs, etc and then he is able to download Brainiac as his mainframe giving him more technology and made him richer so he buys out Luthorcorp making Lexcorp a powerful buisness.

YEa if they do bring lex/michael back i would like to see what they have in store.

I could definitely get behind something similar to that.

I think they need to work Lex in more than just the Last few episode of the show. I mean I would rather it be spread out over the whole season and have a story line to insted of Lex just poping up out of no where. And I have to agree I wish Lana would have never been in S8. Personaly I would rater a those last two Lana episodes among some of the worst of the show.

Yea the last two lana episodes were overall crap, and i do hope we have the real lex come back at some point before the show is over. The two easiest ways back is either brought back to life via magic and the real lex did die in the explosion. Or the whle clone idea like many of us have said, and said the lex in the truck wasnt really lex but a clone and the real lex is somewhere else.

agreed, Lana getting super powers wasn't what made the second half of Season 8 horrible.

If you look at it this way, she DID get super powers in the comics and became the "Insect Queen" so it's not like giving her powers in Smallville isn't cannon with comics (which I wouldn't doubt is the works of DC Comics and NOT PS3).

in regards to the topic, bringing Michael back is good regardless how you cut it, so yes, bring him back
