Everyone was expecting this thing to be a trilogy, but it's starting to sound like the Superman reboot is basically an "Incredible Hulk" scenario leading into Avengers.

LA Times confirms that Jeff Robinov is pushing for a Justice League movie in 2013:
"His most immediate hurdle is filling the void that will be left this summer when the multibillion-dollar “Harry Potter” series shepherded by Horn ends. Robinov is betting on DC Comics characters to take center stage starting in June with the $200-million-plus production “Green Lantern.”
He’s then aiming to release new “Batman” and “Superman” films in 2012 and “Justice League,” a teaming of DC’s top heroes, in 2013."

I'm excited by this prospect. It's a great way to bookend Nolan's Batman trilogy and thanks to Nolan's new partnership with Warners/DCE, he could be "godfathering" this too.

Bale, Reynolds and Cavill teaming up? We shall see.

I seriously doubt Bale would agree to join up....unless they pay him ridiculously high...and even then, I doubt it.

After Terminator, I believe Bale would do anything if the paycheck is there.

If Nolan godfathers this project (and we learned a year ago Nolan is partnered with Warners and DCE now to shepherd these movies), we *could* get Bale.

It would certainly be a smart move on Warners' part after TDKR becomes a huge hit (and it will). I don't think audiences will accept anyone else as Batman so soon after that film.

I'd rather see wonder woman/flash or even a lesser known character. I don't want a continuity mess instead of stand-alone movies like what's going on with marvel.

I hope this does happen. We can finally see WW on the big screen.

Saw that in the other thread a while ago. A 1 year gap to JL seems a bit optimistic.

I think he's jumping the gun on the 2013 release date.

Yeah, but I get the feeling that he's especially proud of the work he did with Nolan in Batman, so he'd not want to portray Batman without it being that again..specifically with Nolan directing it. And honestly...I wouldn't want that either. I believe they've maintained that this Batman is in his own separate world, uninvolved with any other DC hero characters, and they'd like to keep it that way. They'll get another Batman if this is actually going to happen.

yeah, they'd have to start filming spring 2012, or earlier if more post-production is needed

That makes me a bit uncomfortable. Is it going to be rushed? Are they going to merge existing universes, or attempt a second continuity like they were considering before? Right after superman's first movie and before a sequel?

I don't like it.

My take is that Nolan's Batman is the first hero in this verse. The others haven't been established yet. That's why it seems as though hyper-realism is maintained and there's no other heroes yet.

I think it would be an easy transition to bring in the others if there's logical versimilatude involved in the approach.

It sounds very similar to what Marvel did with Avengers (2012), coming out one year after Thor (2011) and Captain America (2011).

It could be the same formula, to capitalize on the predicted success of Avengers.

I don't want it getting in the way of superman 2, green lantern 2, or any others. And a justice league movie with it's own continuity would just mean an annoying delay for stand-alone dc movies. It's likely green lantern 2 and flash would get pushed back.

That's how it happened in the Timmverse.

Hmmm... well I was kind of hoping for a second Superman movie first, so that Superman could have it's 'The Dark Knight' moment after 'Superman Begins.'

But if I have to forfit that in order to get Bale, Cavill and Reynolds together... then heck yes!

if they plan on incorporating nolan's batman's continuity into this, and bale ends up not coming back, that would be super lame

Green Lantern II is already being scripted. It wouldn't hit before 2014 anyway.

AND it's very likely they could use John Stewart in this film instead of Ryan Reynolds as Hal, for the sake of marketability and diversity.

That was the plan with JL Mortal.

It wouldn't interfere with Green Lantern.

As far as Superman goes? We don't know if there even will be a Superman II. Superman could just be a lead-in for this, like some of the Marvel films to Avengers.

oh, sure it could. they wrapped in what, last november? so if they started filming next year around this time, that's almost a year and a half break in between. Plenty of time to get rolling.

I suppose that depends on whether they intend to use john stewart in green lantern sequels.

That would be such a shame. He deserves he own movies to finally develop his mythology, supporting cast, and some of his other villains!

I'm sure it's unimaginative to throw Denzel out there again for John Stewart ;)

I think the name is Jeff Robinov, unless we are talking about different people. Which I don't think is the case.

Anyway, I don't think this (JL) is going to happen just yet.

EDIT: Post # 10,000!!!

I hope you're right. Is this a common thing, announcing something like this and then changing plans?

I wouldn't bet on that. WB tend to have a 3 year gap between sequels (sometimes 4).

These projects take time and all those involved enjoy having a hiatus too to work on other stuff.

I suppose that depends on whether they intend to use john stewart in green lantern sequels.

Or they could just keep John as the Green Lantern present in the JL film series, while Ryan (Hal) is the lead in the solo series. They could do cameo crossovers.

I know John's appearance is inevitable in the future films. They're really keeping the GL script close to the comics and using all the characters they can.

That would be such a shame. He deserves he own movies to finally develop his mythology, supporting cast, and some of his other villains!

Meh. We could get some amazing supervillains in a JLA film series. The Superman villains tend to be the main ones that the JL fight anyway (Lex, Brainiac, Darkseid etc).

Well it hasn't really been announced, this is what Robinov is hoping for, but unless they get moving real fast it seems unlikely...But not impossible.
