Warner Bros looking at a Justice League movie?

If they had executed GL better, and Nolan's vision of Batman wasn't so closed to his own world, I'd be totally on board for something like this...

It's a brilliant manip, but I think Batman and Wonder Woman look out of place. JMO.

Batman isn't that closed to his oun world, all Nolan did was not reference superpowered beings, but Batman did what Batman does, he even invented some big scy fy gadgets, that Batman would totally work

I know he could. Honestly, I never bought into the argument that Nolan's Batman couldn't work in a larger DCU. Just say that he was the first hero on the scene and be done with it. Make it a slow, natural progression from normal (BB, TDK and presumably TDKR) to all-out weird (MOS). It can be done. It probably won't, but to say that it absolutely can't is, IMO, untrue.

When I said that Nolan's Batman looks out of place, I meant visually. He just doesn't look like he fits in with everyone else.

Don't worry, i was refering to the older post of TheDragonator that you answered to. :D

In my opinion, if Nolan doesn't want DC to use his trilogy continuity then they should in least use part of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as back story, doesn't mean everything from those films happened or that the joker has scars, it means that Batman and Gordon know each other, and that Batman has already faced the Joker, Scarecrow and the Two-Face

Oh, sorry, my mistake! :woot:

I don't think they could even if they wanted to.

I can't see a Justice League movie. At least not a good one. Too much genre clashing. There's also a ton of timing issues, and a few failed franchises to deal with.

If it can be done in the comics and the cartoons, then I think it can be done in live action.

Green Lantern was badly handled, it could have been much better

I actually don't disagree, but that still has to happen. So does Wonder Woman. There hasn't been a Flash movie either, so who knows how they would turn out.

So, you have those three together, plus Batman and Superman... and you have to make them work together, good luck.

I don't care if it they'll take 10 or 15 years to make it, i don't want them to rush it as long as they get all their films right and make the crossover great

That's what they said about Green Lantern, and that was just one franchise.

Just because it can work doesn't mean it will. It's a tricky thing to balance all those characters, but it most certainly can be done.

I just don't see a Justice League movie working. However, a Superman-Batman crossover (not necessarily Nolan's Batman) is much more workable.

How do you think The Avengers will fare, then?

I would love that.

I don't know. We'll have to wait and see. But Avengers is different for a few reasons. Its characters have much less extraordinary origins. Superman is an alien raised on Earth, Wonder Woman is an Amazon from a mythological world, Green Lantern is human but gets his powers from an alien artifact. Most of the Avengers are humans and humans changed by science. The only supernatural one in Avengers is Thor (and he does stand out as a result).

Bringing all the DC heroes together and making them work together is a lot more difficult.

It is more difficult. But certainly not impossible. It was never a problem for the cartoon. But you do have a valid concern. It's tough to juggle an ensemble cast, never mind one so diverse as the Justice League. But I have faith that it will eventually be done.

I'm curious as to why it's more difficult to bring the DC heroes together just because they have mythological/alien origins.

He said it was because of "genre clashing."

We have...

  • An alien who can shoot fire from his eyes (sci-fi/fantasy).
  • A guy dressed as a giant bat (crime drama/fantasy).
  • A space cop (sci-fi/fantasy).
  • A guy who can run really, really fast (fantasy).
  • Another alien (from Mars) (sci-fi/fantasy).
  • The king of Atlantis (fantasy).
  • A woman whose roots are seeped in Greek Mythology (fantasy).
All of these characters are fantasy-based. Two of these characters come from space, three of them are cops, and the other two frequently come into contact with mythological elements. I can see why one would think that it would be difficult to realistically portray how a Themyscirian princess would interact with an intergalactic cop, and that's certainly a valid concern, but I don't think their respective genres have anything to do with that.

I wouldn't mind Bale-Batman in a Justice League film, even if they "pretend" it's a different world altogether..

I'd like to see Cyborg in the film; also Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Superman..

save for sequels- green arrow, martian manhunter, mr. terrific, vixen, hawkwoman..

Bale as Batman in a jla movie won't work. Can you imagine him groaning to the rest of the team?

anyone else think the first 3 eps of the Justice League cartoon would make a pretty awesome movie.

granted an 'alien' invasion would have been done already by then in the avengers

Well, they do need a reason for there to be a Justice League. After all, the characters have their own franchises, they don't just hang out together on the weekend.

They need an unprecedented threat. Something that requires someone as powerful as Superman to team up with other heroes.

What are the terrorist groups in the DC world, besides Ra's league of shadows..

Darkseid? Mongul? OMACs?
